Yup, you've gotta remember that's almost 1%.... if you look at the size of the throttle bores and calculate how big of an open area that represents, I would bet that it exceeds the flow/control of the IAC.... so, you've got an IAC/ECM trying to control idle when there is a huge leak past the throttle body butterflies.

x2 percentage needs to be at 0

I have always thought these trucks liked a little richer than that to idle smooth, all the ones I have played with have.

OK one thing here. Pull the throttle body and check for butterflies closed completely, Hold it up to the light, should be almost no light coming through yet not binding. If the adjustment screw is not sealed then someone may have messed with it.

Look at the throttle body linkage... you'll see part of the linkage bent at an "L".... it will be resting against what looks like the threads of a small screw.... at the other end of that 'screw' there may be what looks like a cap within a recess of the aluminum of the TB. That cap comes out and beneath it is the screw..... but, do what Don said first... if that looks OK it may be a TPS sensor.... I don't have my books here to see if there is a way to check the TPS position. Also, don't have a pic of the TB.. need to get one of those.

Its a little set screw. It acts like a stop.Front of throttle but all u can see r the screw threads. There is a protective cap on the end u have to remove that to adjust. There is a torx head inside. The protective cap is there for a reason.

Found out my alternator is bad guys. I'm hoping that smooths things out

good luck, i figured out mine was the tps sensor because my thermostat was too cool and it wouldnt heat up to reset but i swapped it out for a hotter one and it ran great

Hi all,

Quick side question regarding this common rough idle issue as I'm in the same situation but without a datamaster. Is there a remote chance that despite replacing almost all the common stock parts (plugs, vacuum lines, wires, alternator, cap, egr etc..) it couldn't be due to main bearings going bad and resulting in the oil pressure dropping too much while at idle?

Many thanks!
Pete

p.s. I do need to get the datamaster setup asap :)

Im not sure if that can even be answered. Its possible Im sure. Anything is possible with these trucks.

Re: Another rough idle post

Its a miracle. Im not really sure what happened. I turned up the boost and dumped a ton of alky to richen things up. So rich that the plx just read "rich". I then tuned off the alky and saw that the stock injectors were keeping up with 15 psi on the new turbo. My wide band said 10 for AFR. I even had to pull my fuel pressure down. I then added alky and made my way to 22psi. This thing to retarded on the hwy. I raced my neighbors 2006 mustang gt from a 60 mph roll and pulled 3 cars on him by the time I hit 100. Its insane. Its still running pig rich but it seems to like it there. Between 10 and 11 AFR it likes. 0 KR in that range. Im happy. Thanks guys.
