i have a DEI alarm installed on my sy. its more commonly known as a viper/python/sidewinder alarm. i cant really say if its the best alarm out there, but it does have a lot of options. i got my alarm with, window control, and remote start. i also got a pager with the alarm, so if the alarm goes off, you get paged with a 1-3 code. 1 means the alarm was triggered, but not fully activated. 2 means the alarm was fully activated. and 3 means the door sensor has been triggered and lets you know someone has gotten into your car. also later this year DEI will be releasing a new feature similar to low jack, that has a vehicle tracking system for theft recovery, and like the onstar system can unlock your doors for you or activate your alarm to help you find your car if you cant remember where you parked. overall the alarm has a lot of features, you can pretty much hook anything up to the alarm, to be activated at the push of a button. strobe lights, underbody kit, stereo etc... eventually im going to hook up a couple lights for the inside of my bed, which will be wired in with the alarm. so if i dont lock my tonneau cover, and someone lifts the cover, the alarm will go off. or if the alarm is off, and i lift the cover, the lights will turn on, and turn off when i close the cover... gotta love technology today... so much shit can be done!
The 2wss alarm has a tons of stuff on it, the new one comes out in like a week or so (thas the one on that page), it has a 1.25 mile range on the pager with a vibrate on it so you know when your alarm is going off, **from what ive heard** its susposta be the top of the line alarm, i really like the one i have now, and the new one is gonna be even better with the longer range, depending on what features you choose to have them installed price varys, in minnesota every option is around $700 install, you proablly wont find them in any store like bestbuy or audioking, there is only certian dealers who have them, up here i think there is only 3 places who have them..

What timely topic. I have an aging Code alarm backing up Lo-Jack. I am looking for something better. Yesterday's incident just rapped me in the head.
Immediate notification is essential in my mind. The quicker the call is made to the cops, the quicker you will get it back. I sure like the idea of a long distance pager.

Well, I think I'm biased since I work for PPI, whose parent company is Directed Electronics, but I run the Viper 800. I added the dual zone radar and paging unit. Someone can't peer into my vehicle without it wanring them and can't reach in the window without the alarm going off. The pager has worked every time, and I love the alarm. They're easy to install, and are actaully based off the GM color coding, so you can't really go wrong.
The Viper 550 ESP is nice too, due to it having the remote start option, which is great if you are in a cold area.
