Air Conditioner Hissing

So I"m trying to figure out where the hissing is coming from.

When the A/C is on, it blows nice and cold. When I turn it off the A/C there is a hissing that is constantly making noise, while the engine is running. Not sure if that's a sign of low freon, a vaccuum leak or an A/C part going bad. Anyone have any ideas or experience with the same issue?

Thanks in advance for any solutions.

The hissing is a vacuum leak that's more than likely coming from your A/C control panel in the dash. It uses vacuum to actuate as you change the settings. You can remove the panel and GENTLY check to see that the lines are plugged all the way in. If not you can try using a tool to pull them in to seal it.

Sometimes you will hear hissing when the system is equalizing also. Nothing to worry about.

On my sy, I have to move the selector lever slightly "up" from the off position when I turn my a/c off. If I don't move it slightly up, there is a constant hissing sound which is a vacuum leak on the slide controls. Try that.
