I understand the part about building boost, but I would think one has plenty of time to do this prior to the green!
Tydriver, how are you able to do a rear wheel smoke show, if yours is a typhoon? I have the ability to do either front or rear burn out from the cabin by the flick of a switch, but I thought you could only be in AWD all the time!! http://www3.telus.net/yahveh/jimmy1.JPG

100% Typhoon (well maybe minus 2% for having front shaft removed)

I was planning on taking my truck to the DYNO, and I had the front shaft out for that very reason... This burnout was accomplished almost 2years ago with old OUT OF BALANCE VIPER tires on worn out OEM rims that were out of round and bent..... So therefore a little 'TRU-ING' didnt hurt them..

The smoke was there for OVER 5+mins... The marks were still there last fall.

I have video of Jeff and I at last years NATS 'TRU-ING' up another set of terrible tires. Its out there if ya want the link let me know..

Sorry guys, I have been extremely frustrated trying to get back in here! I now have, (are you ready for this) a total of 4 passwords! I think I finally found out why I could never enter, it is because I have saved to favorites the BB board rather than the site, damn! (Opps, am I allowed to say that?? I would have changed my post, except for the fact that I already had clicked on , “submit) Anyways, to answer the question of how I did the burn out, I tied the ass end, (my trailer hitch) unto the hydro pole in the back ground, with a huge chain! I locked my front axles with the vacuum pod switch from within the cabin, had three spotters, one person spotting to ensure that my right front would lite up, one to watch for the left one to ignite, and a third to stop me if the pole started leaning! At that point my front end started doing a clockwise 360, which caused a Porsche owner to scramble to take his piece to safety! I had to start again with yet another person holding my front end from doing donuts! This time it worked! I went through the gears till I hit 5,000 rpm in 3rd, which is approximately 100 mph! After 15 seconds or so, I had to bail, for the cabin was filled with smoke!

Joe, I use the Astro Van case which supposedly is the same as the typhoon’s! The hood is a one of a kind, I hired a fibreglass shop to make it so that it would not bleed off pressure to the sides, for it is a true ram air! I have a small block 400 N/A in it and hope to run 10's on May 17th!

Tydriver, when you removed the front shafts, you obviously had to install stubs to hold the front hub assemblies together, yes?

Nope, just removed driveshaft from Xfer case to front differential so it wouldnt tranmist Torque to front end...

SWEEET! My dad is doing basically the same thing with a blazer. I wonder how well the stock blazer 4x4 transfercase will hold up?

Are you running a stock transmission?

Hey Joe, I have no idea on how well a 4X4 case would hold up, but I wouldn't want to try it due to the binding on pavement between the front and rear axles! I like viscous couplings! My tranny is out of an 88 and newer Camaro with a 4X4 housing to accomodate the transfer case! I have billet servos plus a whole lot of other junk to make the tranny work well! It shifts automatically at 6300 rpm!

Well it only binds when your locked. So if he only used 4wd when drag racing and left it in 2wd the rest of the time it should be OK as far as binding goes. Do you usually leave your front axle disengaged? IF so, thats the same as running without a front driveshaft and I've heard that can eventually wear out the viscous coupling. Very cool truck you got though. I like the awd burnout. very nice.

Hey Joe, I drive with AWD 24/7 unless I want to do a rear wheel warm up! I tried driving around with front wheel drive the other day, but that is just plain crasy! If I do not leave it in AWD when parked on a ever so slight incline, my truck moves down hill on me! When I first noticed this, I kept thinking I must have been drunk the night before when I parked it, for I would get up in the morning, and my truck would be parked on the sidewalk! haha!

congratulations jimmy. your times are great! its nice to see the cheaper motors doing the times. thats very encouraging since we have a similar build. i have a mccoys performer plus. i hope to be running again soon, last trip to the track revealed a bad slipping in third. i orderd a 9/11, and i hope to get a tranny built in the next month or so. im really jealouse. keep it up.

btw:what kind of FP are you running on the 50lb cam chip? ive been running 35lbs, and it still seems a little rich

Is 50 giving you the best performance?

I did gear the 50# stuff to run off of 43-45psi base fuel pressure, but whatever works.
