So a truck being sold "as is" that doesn't even run has a reserve?

Was $3100 your winning bid they didn't accept?

Yes 3100 was my winning bid but it was on approval. There are so many rules that the seller can put into place. Im not going to go through them all but yes you can set a reserve and if it doesn't hit they put it on approval until they ask the seller what they want to do. In this situation the seller wants more so he did not approval my bid and they are going to run it again tonight starting at the last highest bid which was mine at 3100. Ran a carfax and the truck is clean with one owner. It might need a tranny or a motor who knows. On the other hand it might need a fuse, haha If you are a licensed dealer and registered on copart you can stop by and look at it but i'm not that close. I will let you know what it goes for tomorrow.

Yeah, this truck is too much of a mystery; I don't think it's worth much more than your high bid. If it ends up needing an engine or transmission one would have been better off buying this.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with this type of auction, but if there is a "seller" and it's not an insurance or bank owned vehicle, why sell it through a closed loop vehicle auction? Wouldn't the seller reach their intended goal faster on an open site like Ebay, Craigslist, or Autotrader?

Seems like a total c-block to me. You won the auction for what the bidders valued it at. If the seller wanted more money for it...they should have posted it for sale somewhere and specified a specific value or reserve.

Copart has grown a lot in the last few years. In the beginning they were just salvage then have grown to include repos/muscle cars/ classics/exotics....the list goes on. This could have been a trade in and the dealer is selling it or it's still owned by the first owner and he or she has hired an auction broker to sell it. If you do a search for the VIN on google it comes up on a few different sites. That's telling me its a broker who is doing the sale. Anyway i will let you guys now what it sells for tomorrow.
