***1960 Chevy Bel-Air***
For sale is this super cool 1960 Chevy Bel Air. I am going to try and give you as much information on this car as possible so that most of your questions are answered.
This is a turn-key "drive anywhere" car. It runs and drives excellent on the road. It has air ride suspension and 20" chrome wheels... A REAL HEAD TURNER !!! I purchased this car out of South Carolina in February 2008. As you can tell by the VIN number, the car was built in Atlanta GA. The car is a super clean and solid southern car. The previous owner told me that the car had lived in South Carolina for quite a few years. To the best of my knowledge I am at least the 4th owner. The odometer shows 47,208 miles, I have no idea if this is correct.
The car is originally a 6 cylinder, 3 speed car. Two owners before me put the small block in and add the Turbo 350 transmission. The guy that owned it before me put the air ride and wheels and tires on the car. When I bought the car in February 2008, I swapped out the intake and carburetor to tame it down a bit to make it more driveable. The engine has a mild hydraulic roller cam and roller rockers. The intake manifold on the car is an Edelbrock Performer EPS #2701 purchased new from Summit Racing in 2008 for $139.95. The carburetor is an Edelbrock Performer electronic choke #1406 purchased new at Summit Racing in 2008 for $259.95. I also installed a new mechanical fuel pump and regulator. The starter and flexplate were replaced in February 2008 too because when I bought the car it had the wrong starter on it. I added the chrome air cleaner and valve covers in the spring of 2008. The car also has a transmission cooler up front. New lower ball joint were installed in February 2008 as well...it still had the original ones in it believe it or not. New trasmission lines were made and installed too.
The tires are 255/35ZR20 tubeless radials that barely show any wear. It has a B&M Z-Gate floor shifter and Kenwood KDCX589 stereo with remote. The stereo is hidden away inside the glove box. The original AM radio is still mounted in its original dash location. All of the dash lights seem to work just fine, actually I can't think of anything that doesn't work other than the AM radio. It might work, it's just not hooked up.
The air ride has two toggle switched mounted on the left lower dash area, one switch for the front bags and one for the rear bags. There is a dual needle air gauge mounted nicely in the dash. Someone before me put new carpet and a new head liner in the car. The head liner looks great, the carpet install isn't the greatest. The seats appear to be original as well as all of the glass and moulding.
The car, according the the VIN is originally a tuxedo black car. It has been repainted, not the greatest paint job. Right after I bought the car, I wet sanded and buffed the whole thing. The paint job was very dry. The wet sanding and buffing did make a HUGE difference. There are a few little spots of spot putty that are bubbling a little but no holes at all. Make sure you look at all of the photos. I took some super close ups so you can see how the paint is and some of the dings in the stainless.
The car is not perfect, that's for sure but is super solid and clean. There is a trasmission fluid leak that I think is coming from the rear seal. I just haven't had time to look at it. The main reason I am selling this car is because of a recent addition to the family and no time for me to enjoy the car. Call me with any questions.
