So as im moving the Ty from one overpriced storage place to another yesterday I decide to hop on the freeway to see if anyone wants to play.

I'm driving along and all of a sudden.................NOTHING.

Now I just filled up the tank and there's no tach flutter again today so I'm ready to open it up a bit before hibernation. I've got Amber with me again but she's in a good mood :p Instead of renting Ulitimate Fighting VVI last night we got some chick flick with Duchoveny in it...blah blah blah...
She thinks I'm paying attention but I was really trying to decide what style gauges I'm going to buy. :D

Where was I....oh yeah...so I get off the freeway, pretty disappointed, thinking of shooting back to my house since my parents were out to "console" myself with some "quality" time with the ol' lady if you know what I'm saying..

Just as I'm about to mention this brilliant idea to her, what pulls up next to me but some toolsheds in a nice SHO with temp tags.... :p

I look over with a grin, the passenger is about in the drivers lap pointing at the Ty while the driver just glares with a smug look on his face. So we get onto the main road and to the light about 100 ft away. Now we've got a solid half mile of wide open road ahead of us so I'm looking in the rearview, to my left, to my right, all over for cops...nothing. Good. He sits up a little and we exchange glances. Im revved up already, drop it into D, and the truck starts lifting. Passenger goes ape shit when he sees this...jumping all the front of the car... :eek:nfire:

So. Light goes green, SHO is toast, end of story. :usa

WOW. That's quite a victory! I drive a 1999 SHO., and I think I set an all time high quarter mile record of 15.2......now, don't make me brake out the Geo!!!

Give the SHO some credit...it has 220hp (assuming 1st or 2nd gen) 235 if 3rd gen, and FWD...hardly a match up for a Typhoon or syclone...i own a 89 MTX SHO which ran a consistant 14.9 stock, 14.6 after the LSD and suspention mods (but would outhandle anything). Im surprised a sho would event try against something like the SyTy. good kill either way.

As a previous owner of two MTX SHO's, an 89 and a 95, I know what you're saying. Mine handled terrific with the suspension mods I had done. But outhandle anything, nope. Be careful with those kinda statements around here, some people like Renz look for any chance they can get to be a smart-ass (damnit, I fall into that category to  ).

and be careful when you have those SHO's up on jackstands....they are afraid of heights and will do anything to get off the stands.

KAPOW went the ratchet out of Renz's hand as he jacked up the truck by the axle instead of the frame when removing the leaf springs.

Sorry, from what you wrote in your IM I can't tell what the hell you were removing, maybe it was your lift kit. I'd post what you wrote, but I'm not gonna pull a bdubb  .

NJ SHO boy,
If you read my post, you saw that I drive a stock 1999 SHO. 15.2 for one of those heavy automatic is'nt too bad, but hardly competes with much of anything on the street these days. It would obviously be quicker if it came with the option of a manual tranny like your '89 SHO. Anyway, a best of 15.2 timeslip is pretty lame coming from a "Super Duper HIGH Output" V-8, when you compare it to the power of today's 4 and 6 cylinder cars running mid 14's right off the freakin show room floor. Sure it will do 148 mph if I leave my right clod-hopper nailed to the floor for long enough, but what decently built car would'nt, with the top speed governor removed. I could possibly add a super-charger , heads, and other work to the drivetrain for about 15,000 bones, and finally expect a "real nice" low 13 second car. But why? Why not sink that kinda dough in to a pristine '93 Typhoon, and get in to the low 11's? THEN, when dudes like Makaveli blow my doors off, he'd actually have something to brag about.

Calm down, tu-pac! What do you think it means? go back and read my post. I'm just saying that braggin' about beatin something as slow as a Mini Cooper, is'nt much to brag about, when you drive something as badass as a Typhoon. Don't get all upset. The only reason that I even said anything on this forum, is because I drive a SHO, and I know how SLO they are. I do however, look forward to locating a '93 Typhoon in good shape, and then investing my money into that, so that maybe one day I too can share a few GOOD kills on this forum.

Come on, man. Was it really much of a race? If it was, then "entertain" us with a few details about the race. Did he get the jump on you? Did he hang with you at all, through any gear? You said, "So. Light goes green, SHO is toast, end of story". wow.

Glad you got my point. I don't think you or your Typhoon SUCK....just this particular "kill". Now go smoke a corvette or something ricer-ish with a big wing and quadruple turbos. ::eek:k::
