2 knock sensors, 3way switch, and code 43 =>FAST

after spending alot of time serching for my (false knock), i removed the knocksensor next to the thermostat..

still the ECM received the same knock, so i decided to install a 3 way swtich between the old and the new knocksensor.

setting 1=> old place of KS
setting 2=> no KN
setting 3=> new place of KS
when you disconnect the KS (setting 2) it will throw a code 43.

So here is what i found out, and some info would be really great cause i found out something cool (i hope).

in setting 1 i get a code 43, but when i give the engine some knock (by hamer), it stills registrates it like it should

in setting 2 i get code 43 and as soon as you are under boost it will give 4 KR nomather what..

in setting 3 i don't get a code and it wil give me the old 18KR :(

well here comes the cool part, or weird part..
When i give the ECM the code 43, it still registates knock in setting 1 and setting 3, but now when i am under WOT, i only get 2.8KR under WOT at 120MPH, and it runs like a monster, and the rest in Datamaster looks the same..(can't hear deto, IA Temp aroud 37 degrees C, Mvolts are around 1000 (WOT).

so please somebody tell me that Code 43 doesn't dramaticy dampers the knock, and i will be good to go

So how can that be?

3 switches, 2 knock sensors, and 1 knockin' Ty in Holland

Okay, here's what you do right here: i'm gonna hook you up, aight?

throw some spacecake into the tank of your Ty, and watch it take off like a rocket. No knock!

Where my dogs at?!!!

:roll: atleast it's better than no response, nobody knows what the code43 actually does to the engine managment?

I'm gonna say that it probably triggers "limp home mode", which probably adjusts fueling & timing.

That's just a guess, though.

i have never been so happy with a code 43, cause the knock went down from 18KR to 1.2KR at 10PSI boost, and 93 octane gas.

Code 43 Electronic Spark Control

The esc retard signal has been on for to lonk or the system has failed a functional check

If you run the truck like this for very long you will be spending $$$$ for a rebuild. It takes the knocksensor out of the loop. That is why the truck runs so strong. If it fals knock thats ok but if it is real the it is bad very bad.

I am by no means smart on this stuff but at least I gave you an clue.

i know what it means, bit if you look in my first post, you should see that i manually trigger the code, and than put it back in the setting wich normally doesn't create a code..

in the first post i have written that it still monitors knock, and pulls back timing,

yeah it cuts out full boost and timing, and some other crap, but mostly timing, im also working on my own code 43 problems, it goes on, then off then on in about 10 min intervals,f-ed up if ya ask me.
let me know if you totally solve it

thanks

i manually trigger the code 43, i normally don't have that code, but i still get fullboost with code 43, and my FP seems like normal, timing could be a little be alittle bit more retarded.. but no knock

annyway, Nallj92, i think you might try a new wire, or knocksensor, or check the pins in your ECM, you prolly have a loose contact somewhere
