OK GUYS! Here we go! The first annual MN Sy/Ty Shindig will be held at Valley View Park in Bloomington, MN. As previously mentioned, the date is Sat Sept 20th, rain date of Sat Sept 27th. I'm thinkin we can all meet at Noon or so. There are BBQ's there, Dan will also be bringing an extra one. This facility is perfect, has shade, big parking lots, bathrooms, baseball fields, horseshoe pits, bochie ball pits, and even a water park and playground for those of you bringing kids.
You will need to bring your own food/beverage. You may also want to bring chairs, there are some benches at the park but not close to the parking lot.
Schedule of events is as follows. Hang out, BBQ some lunch, check out everyone's truck, meet new poeple, and whatever else we can think of. We may try to do some activities or events like they do at Nats, but this is still in the works. If you have any ideas, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! Also, we'd like to try to get the group to go up to Midway that night. Porky's would be sweet with 20 Sy/Ty's in there, but, the only way we could get a large number of trucks in their lot would be to get there by 6 or 7pm, then we have to sit around for 4 hours till all the crusing gets good, so not sure on this yet. Again, if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. We have also discussed getting a group of people to go to the track on Sun. Anyone interested?
Here are directions:
From 35W.
Exit on the 90th St exit. Go east 1.0 miles. You'll come to the intersection of 90th and Nicollet Ave. Take a right(south) on Nicollet, go one block, take first left on to E. 91st St. As you turn left onto 91st, we'll be on the left hand side, about 1-2 blocks down. Look for the trucks.
From 494.
Exit on the Nicollet Ave exit and go south about 1.4 miles. You'll come to the intersection of Nicollet and 90th. Go straight through the light 1 block and take your first left on to E. 91st St. As you turn left onto 91st, we'll be on the left hand side, about 1-2 blocks down. Look for the trucks.
Dan and myself will be there earlier, so you can look for our 2 Syclones. If you like, PM me and I'll give you my cell phone number incase you get lost, but it is REALLY easy to find.
If anyone has any ideas, questions, or suggestions, please feel free to let me know. Thanks.
