11.59 Stock Long block Typhoon

I just posted this in my build thread but figured I should make a thread in here as well.

First time to drag strip with my Typhoon and came away with a big smile.
Ran an 11.59 and 11.60.

Truck has a 97,xxx mile unopened stock long block with a PTE 6235r turbo, RPM 3" DP, upgraded W2A intercooler system and TurboTweak chip. Running MT E/T Street SS tires on all 4 corners.
I ended up at about 32-33 pounds of boost on those two runs. Running 110 race fuel.
Certainly pushing it past its limits, but the truck handled it really well with next to no knock.

Curious if I am knocking on the door of the stock long block Typhoon record?

Video and time slips below.

Stock heads, camshaft, etc.

WOW very cool i have been arguing with my self about going to vortecs while i am doing the rebuild but i think i will skip the cost and just do a 412 cam and valve train. Maybe a upgraded turbo after everything is running correctly.

22 lb of boost or 32 lb ? Seems pretty high at 30 psi?

Just curious, seems like a good run with good numbers.

32 psi. I have been running 25psi all summer. My first pass this morning at 25psi resulted in a 12.04 run. Ended up at 32-33psi on the fastest runs.

That is to much boost.

Too much boost!? Maybe, but I think the results speak for them self
With that said, I stated in my original post that I know I am pushing the motor further than I should. I have methodically worked my way up to where I am currently at with this setup and the result was numerous 11.6 passes at 30+ psi with no measurable detonation.
I would never expect my motor to hold up to this level of power for an extended period of time, but I went to the track with a goal. I simply wanted to see how far I could push my truck. I was not afraid of breaking something in the process of achieving that goal.
I think I had just the right amount of boost!!

Sure I was just trying to help you out. But if it doesn't bother you what the cost will be. Then good luck. Its your truck. You can crank it up as high as you want.

Phil, I believe Ryan went to the track to prove what his truck can do and how far you can push stock heads and cam. Clearly 30psi is a lot!! Haha. But he ran fast and held together. If you check out his Build thread he's doin a complete Built engine and 80e this winter so if it broke at the track I'm sure he wouldn't have cared much.

Just like me pushing my 107k mile Stock Bottom end to 10.7 ya that's pushing the stock parts you would think. But I'm still driving it 3 thousand miles after that pass. So who knows how far you can push these trucks, don't know till you try. Some succeed and some don't. If you have all your ducks Ina row as far as Tune goes and Suspension setup then you should be able to see how far you can push it.

Just my:2cents:

I can tell you I rode in the truck, even at lower boost it gave me a heck of a ride.

Ryan awesome ET's for a stock block. 32 lbs of boost is for sure pushing things.

1.6 60ft times! Any thoughts you want to share on suspension setup?

Jeff, the truck recently received your complete JSM suspension package.
Front coilovers and tubular arms. 4 link rear and Viking double adjustable coilovers all around. I worked with Mike H a few months back getting everything from you guys.
The JSM suspension has been by far the best money spent on the truck. Helped me get some good 60ft times but even more importantly it just made the truck such a pleasure to drive on the streets.
I am really loving the Viking shocks that came with the kit.

Thanks for developing such great products.

How much Boost did you Launch with? 1.69 seems kinda high given the Boost level and Suspension setup... I managed a 1.52 at 8psi with Just traction bars and 2 rear drag radials. Still impressive times. Can't wait to see the new setup!

My best 60 ft yesterday was 1.64. I was having trouble with the brakes holding the boost back. I actually never looked at the boost gauge to see how much I was launching at. I had the 2step set at 2800 rpm and I could just barely get it to reach that rpm.
Based on your results, I would say I have some room for improvement in there.

That's awesome man....what are the Viking shocks part numbers? I'm looking to go tubular and the rear 4 link soon. Just gathering part numbers....im in Mn and Viking is in Lakeville Mn i do believe. That run is pretty epic for stock engine parts....you and Sean sure a pushinh it all to the limits. Good luck! Be safe and have fun!
