I did a search and realized that his short times were 1.6's too. What were the short times of Howie and Guy Lavy back on the NATS a few years ago?
Skyline 10's, Ty 11's, Sy 13's. Am I right?

Guy did a 1.62 and The Hoovers truck did a 1.60. First and maybe only side by side AWD Syclone race. Very cool to see... Both trucks were on drag radials - 255 for Guy - 315 rear /275 front for James Hoover .

I bet you could get 1.4-1.5 60fts if all you were doing was stricly racing it, go with a 3900 stall and 3.73-4.10 gears and full goodyear slicks, it would either 60ft good or explode.

I don't know about the slicks - but I had the KB 9/11 which stalled around 4000 rpms in my Truck.... with Nitto drag radials around 20 psi - at Pomona drag strip the best I ever got was a 1.700 in a Typhoon.

It would just kind of bounce of the right rear bump stop....

If you watch the video of my 11.95 you can hear my trucks engine racing and loading when it gets off the line.

Hey Robert - were you running your 18" rims when you clocked those times? Just curious because I'm using the same wheel/tire combo as you. That's one bad-ass Syclone

Probably would need the truck to be light also, i was hoping to bring mine down to 3100lbs and i think 4.10 gears would get you better 60 fts but the rest of the run would suffer or not mph well, i think 1.55-1.59 is possible in my truck, we will see soon.

I think gears would do nothing but hurt you.

Buick owners, nearly as a rule, don't change out gears til they go VERY fast, like pulling 1.2-1.3 60' times, with the front end pointing skyward. Their stock 3.42's are used on VERY fast cars. They usually go to 3.73 or 3.90 as a matter to help response off the line when they have monster turbos. I think all of the fast trucks have MORE than enough torque to blow the tires away, and that it's all a matter of putting it to the ground.

Dunno if any of you have seen, but the "Sally" Syclone that Lee Howie built for Dr. Brinski (who has the webpage with all of his street encounters etc) has turned 1.5 60' times... this is a truck that has been running (not sure if it is still) on the stock motor & big bolt ons. Even has a timeslip up of a 1.52 60' time. It is AWD, and he mentions 'extensive' suspension modifications - and won't give 'em up.

I have a truck here that I'm betting will be capable of 1.5 60' times; AWD and stock motor. We'll have to see.
