5.0 with F1 Supercharger....

Ran into a guy the other night cruising around that used to have a turbo Civic. I guess he sold it and bought an early 90's 5.0 and put an F1 supercharger on it. He does all his own tuning and all that jazz so I figured itld be intersting to see what it can do. I raced him a month or two ago but when I launched the Ostrich knocked the G1 out of place and stalled the truckout. I told him I wanted a rematch. So we go off the main road and he says we should really ease into a roll. I said HELL NO!! So we get green and I got him bad out of the hole. He was a ways back for a while. I hit about 100 or so when he started gaining ground on me and it was fast... So it came time to turn off and we went the same way, got on to an open road and let em rip from about 45. He destroyed me, damn fast car, with some DR's or slicks Ild be no match for him IM sure but it was fun anyway.

So is your Ty running faster than 13's?
He should has easily cought up to you even if he spun.
Sounds like his rustang maybe runs 12's?

Ya thats a big blower, he should be into the 11's. But on the street it doesn't surprise me that you took him, on the track would be different, like you said he destroyed you from a roll. If he had better tires it sounds like woulda got you from a dig too. Nice race, thats why those SyTy's are so fun.

The F1 charger from Procharger is a higher rpm type blower.. I mean like high 6k to 7k range not exactly what you would strap on to a stock 302 for the street. Hell it'll take a 12 rib setup to the limit of 900hp before you have to go to the cog drive!

we had it on a built 347 and the power band was too high for us so if this guy strapped it on to mild 302 then he's not running must boost if he's smart.. also If he's running this on the street he'd have to serverly dial in his suspension(even stock fox mustangs have horrible traction) and run nothing but dr's if he were to use that blower from a dig.. with the top end of that blower it would be pretty wicked for gay roll racing though.

He was all over the place. I was watching him in the rear view and he was squirrely at every shift for more than just a second. I have no doubt in my mind he wouldve taken me out fast with some tires.

I've had more than 1 friend run deep into the 10's with stock LS1's with D1's. I know someone that's running very consistent 9.0x's with an F1 on a built 347. That head unit is no joke.

F1's go way fastet than 11's. Thats a big blower that will make big power even on a lil ole 302....

On my 5.0 w/ S-trim and 14psi I have no traction. I have drag springs, control arms etc. If I were to run anyone on the street I'd probably lose. The car is an animal, and the shitty traction and 3500+ stall don't help much either. At quarter throttle from a stop I can fry my street radials. I can even annihilate the tires at 60 mph! I don't know how some of these guys are getting their foxbodys to stick to the ground. There are a LOT of 5 liters out there running real strong on the street. Be careful SyTys!

Theres a guy with a Fox, I think, that runs 8's up here. The car is insane. Im not sure which motor he runs but I know its TTw/spray. He hooks very well, I have it on vid from the last time I went to the track.

With that kind of power though, they aren't running for long on a stock block.

Larson's 03 Cobra just ran 8s on the factory cobra long block.
Made lots of low 9 second passes before that.

We're just too used to dealing with a motor (4.3 v6) that wasn't set up to make big power.

I would have to guess he doesn't have a stock block or else he'd have a cracked stock block running those boost levels.. the stock blocks are great compared to our blocks but not going to handle that kind of boost.

A cobra is a whole different beast, I've got a friend running 800+ rwhp on a stock block with TT's. I have multiple friends running 750-800+ rwhp on stock blocks with KB's or Whipples. The Cobra's & Shelby's come from the factory with hardened internals. People have already made 900+ rwhp on a GT500 with a big KB & no other mods with the exception of injectors. A pushrod 302 / 306 / 331 or 347 can't make those power levels on a stock block.

Stock 5.0 blocks are good for around 5-600hp. Then it's necessary to step up to an SVO block, Dart block or equivalent. Like said previously, the newer modular Cobra blocks are crazy strong.
