i believe that you may be referring to a ZQ8 steering box, a very common upgrade.

I believe, but I will have to check, that the close ratio AGR box I just installed says ZR-2 on it.

ZQ8 is the Xtreme suspension package. That's the common upgrade that many people do, for the quicker steering ratio. It may or may not help your steering issues, depending on whether it's your original steering box that's having the problems or if it's other parts (rag joint in the steering shaft, play in the tilt joints, etc.).
The ZQ8 comes out of the Xtremes and Sonoma ZQ8s. I have no clue if the ZR2 uses the same one. It could be upgraded from stock like they are, or it could be completely different since it's the heavy duty offroad package.

You notice a marked improvement in steering response withthe quick ratio box. I can cut through the autox slaloms with less steering wheel angle than before. The stock box is next to impossible to cut cleanly through a tight cone slalom. I got the higher volume pump as well.

Nope.....Regular pump on the Xtreme/ZQ8 trucks. Just the quicker ratio box as mentioned above.....and the ZR2 IS NOT a quick ration box (however if having it rebuilt to the quicker ratio anyway, it does have the 4wd pitman arm that the Sy/Ty trucks need)

correct, from what I can find, the ZR2/ZR5 box is a 16:1 ratio, where as the ZQ8 box is 12.7:12kwik4u said:
