Xtreme rear swaybar on a TY???

All of the posts I have searched say that a mounting bracket must be welded to the TYs frame to make this work. Why can't the stock Xtreme endlink bracket be bolted to the frame like it can be on a Syclone? Any pictures would be great.

I don't know why they won't fit, or if they will. But I have a pair of front and rear Ty Belltech swaybars for sale if you're interested.

What posts? Do you have a link? Nothing needs to be welded, but you need to drill some holes for the upper end link bracket.

Just a quick sanity check for myself...Are you guys referring the the Xtreme blazer rear bar or the Xtreme S10 rear bar?

The S10 bar goes BEHIND the axle, and was my understanding that it interfered with the gas tank. The Blazer rear bar mounts forward and needs holes drilled right?

OR

Are you guys talking about the S10 bar flipped forward?

Well that's all news to me. I'd like to know which one just bolts onto a Ty without welding, drilling is OK for me, I don't really want the hassle of welding on my truck. From what I gathered by searching, the Blazer X bar would need a bracket welded to the TY frame, I don't know if the S10 X bar will fit the TY, that's what I'm trying to find out.

The bar you want is from a 2001+ Blazer X and it mounts in front of the axle, and the only stock mounting harware you can reuse on the Ty is the parts that attach it to the axle housing, then with the truck on the ground at ride height and with the bar parrallell to the ground and level measure from the end of the bar up to the frme rail then go to autozone and get a set of the universal energy suspension end link kits the right lengh and attach one end to the bar and drill one hole for the top of the end link to attach to the frame and your done.

Very easy to do and its will make a huge differance, and can be done for quit abit cheaper than buying the Belltech bars.

Awesome, that is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.

What about on a Sy? Do we use the Blazer X bar too? How does the stiffness compare to the Belltech?

Re: Xtreme rear swaybar on a TY???

Here's an update for anyone interested in doing this mod on a Typhoon, I purchased an Xtreme Blazer rear swaybar off of Ebay for about $65 shipped. It came with the axle bolts/pads, the bushings and endlinks. Here is a few pics of the stock hardware.

I did not use the stock Xtreme endlinks because I would have had to fab a bracket and weld it to the frame. Instead I bought a set of universal Energy Suspension endlinks from a local Advanced Auto pn# ES-9-8120r These were the shortest they had but I think I should have went with and inch or two longer because the bolt was just barely through the top washer to get started. It ended up being fine, but another inch couldn't hurt :rotf: . I just bolted the bar onto the rear and marked where the holes in the frame needed to be drilled. After that, just bolt up the endlinks and your set. Here is the finished product and it does make a world of difference, even with stock rubber bushings in the axle brackets.

Hope this will help out some of you guys looking to do this mod. Total investment was less than $80.

Glad to be of service. I hate to have to search for stuff, so everything I do to this truck I'm trying to document for this board. I guess I'm a little spoiled by LS1tech

Re: Xtreme rear swaybar on a TY???

Ive got a question while the subject is up here. I never really thought about it until now but when I got the ZQ8 rear end for my blazer he left the swaybar on. This is a 99 Xtreme pickup rear end. Can I put it in a 2wd S10 blazer with otherwise stock suspension?

Re: Xtreme rear swaybar on a TY???

I would think you'd be fine.

The rear end dimensions of a 2wd and 4wd jimmy are the same.
Track width might be different but alignment and mounting locations should be identical.

The blazer bar will fit a syclone as the frame in front of the rear wheels are identical. It has already been done by others. Look on the s-10 forum.

Re: Xtreme rear swaybar on a TY???

Thanks for the pictures! I just finished this mod and it was by far the easiest mod on my typhoon yet! Inexpensive and a great bang for the buck. I will eventually change the stock rubber bushings with the hard poly ones soon:D:tup:
