Fiberglass can be a lot of work. Iv'e seen some that needed so much bondo and primer, that they weighed as much or more than the stock hood once they were done. Have you thought about aluminum? There was a member on here that was designing some aluminum hoods for the sy/ty.
If you can find a comapny that makes it in carbon fiber, even better....
