WTB: 454 Throttle Body

Got a local buddy that has an early 90's TBI 5.7L powering his boat and he's hitting a wall at around 4000 rpm and has trouble getting up to plane. He has done quite a bit of research (he is a very good mechanic by day) and has narrowed the issue down to airflow and the stock 350 throttle body unit that's on it (it's overwhelmed with the upgraded heads and cam). So, he's in need a 454 unit (he's aware of the differences and modifications needed).

So, if anyone sees one whilst in the junkyard or knows of one, please LMK. A pre-1994 model is desired as GM changed the plugs for the IAC and TPS for the 454 in 1994 (IIRC).

Thanks in advance,

In the old days, we'd put a vacuum gauge on the engine. If the gauge read 0" vacuum, it wasn't the carb, or throttle valve size holding it back.

Great minds think alike.....that's precisely how he determined this.

He's an old school guy too. The first giveaway was that he pulled a carb'd setup off (Q-Jet IIRC), put the TBI on and lost 500 rpm up top. He verified his suspicion with a gauge.
