Re: Won't start

Sounds just like the fuel pump to me. take the shrader valve off the fuel rail & put A rag over it & have someone JUST TURN THE KEY ON, DO NOT TRY TO START IT. & see if you have fuel pressure at the sharder valve.let me know if that is it.

Re: Won't start

after install we tried starting it then hit the valve and the air pocket came out and then gas started to so we tried starting it again but still nothing

Mine did that when I bought it, turned out to be a melter fuel pump relay/plug...

What ever it takes!!
Re: Won't start

There is a wire on the firewall next to the hot post. Plug a paper clip from that test wire to the hot post. It should reach and see if that helps. This will simply by pass the fuel pump relay. The relay is located on the driver side next to the brake solenoid. HTH

hated cuz he drives fords
Re: Won't start

I agree apply 12volts to the fp test port behind the upper intake, see if the fuel pump turns on or swap the relay.. it's one of the two above the brake booster.

also do you get your CEL lights when you turn the key to the on position? if not it's your ignition module (located under the dist cap)

Yup:

"Applying 12 volts to fuel pump test connector to troubleshoot fuel pump or set fuel pressure with vacuum line still connected and motor off (note fuse for safety)."

The part number for the ignition module is 1048-2827.

Re: Won't start

in the picture of the 12v to the fuel pump where would the paper clip go to by pass the relay and which one is the relay ??

You would be better off with a short length of wire rather than a paperclip. The fuel pump test connector isn't very close to the distribution block on the firewall. You can see the fuel pump test connector if you follow the wire to where it ends with the blue connector...

The fuel pump relay (#3) is next to the AC relay (#4) on the firewall near the brake booster. These relays are the same so, you can swap them out to see if the one for the fuel pump is bad:

Re: Won't start

thanks for the diagram lots of help

im still kinda lost on what to do with the wire i put it in where the fuel pump relay should go and it started but shook uncontrolably and it was awful so i went and bought a new relay was i supposed to use the wire that way or connect it to a totaly different area

It was asked earlier, but I don't see a response from you.

Does the "service engine soon" light come on when you turn the key on? If yes:

When you turn the engine over, does the fuel pump run for 2 seconds, then stop? If yes:

Have you checked for spark? If yes:

What is the fuel pressure WITH A GUAGE at the fuel rail?

There's some more ideas.

no service engine soon light just the check gauges/engine lights

fuel pump does not turn on for 2 seconds.....what controls that ?

we are about to pull and check a spark plug

and getting a fuel pressure gauge tommorow it does pressurize but unsure of the psi

Re: Won't start

ok the ecm A and B all 4 test points were getting around 5 volts and i listened and yes the fuel pump is working for the 2 seconds to pressurize the system

thanks for all the help
