i know a guy in north crackalaca with the same problem

if its been too long pick up your motor and run

lots of builders that are quick turnaround shops with your interest at hand.

He knows I'm overseas for a few months, so thats where the delay is. At the time I took it I just planned on a rebuild, and there are no SyTy vendors by me and no one who knew what a Syclone was, this guy did.

FYI, Innovative Turbo went out of business a few weeks ago, and the turbo will not fit any downpipe for the syty.

Re: winter projects- turbo

well if you are buying it from someone else, i would check with them to see what housing it has. If you are planning to buy through ITS, they are no longer.

In either case, you will need the 3-4 bolt adaptor to make the GN style work, but i would recommend using the PTE housing which eliminates the adaptor (known to be have exhaust leaks).

sometimes good deals arent always good deals in the end.

Re: winter projects- turbo

checking on it now and a big thanks mike

it has a four bolt so i don't need an adapter for the exhaust manifolds- but i have one from atr when they were in business
originally
i planned on putting my turbnoetics 60-1 (reworked slightly) from my gn to my ty.

but then i need a new 6776 bb turbo for the car.

update on the turbo fiasco

it does have a four bolt and will connect to my exhaust manifold.
it does ahve a 5 bolt exhaust housing that will not fit an atr dowmpipe without modification.
i don't want to cut my external gated d/p

does anybody make an adapter to go from 5 bolt to gn style 4?

Re: winter projects- turbo

My truck has been pretty much my spring, summer, fall, winter project. :( I am however almost done gathering parts.

But my plans have changed some, which is why its taking so long. Should be fun though when done.

Stock intake to Carbed EFI style.
Stock IC to a2a.
60-1 turbo to a T-76
Unported Vortec's to fully cnc ported and polished with larger valves.
Mild cam to a little more bump.

I mean after all it is just money right.. Because I am going paycheck to paycheck getting this thing back together. I'm sick of it not running, I miss driving it.

Re: winter projects- turbo

like i said, buy the PTE exhaust housing..

unless A) you have a GN housing and the 3-4 bolt adaptor or B) you are going to make a custom downpipe, in which the turbo location for any standard T3 flange turbo will be very close to the exhaust manifolds (thus the reason for the adaptor, and longer scroll on the pte housing)

there's no other cheaper/easier way to do it.

$195 + shipping. Just need to confirm if the turbine wheel is Stg5, P, GTQ, or Q trim.

now going with turbonetics 60-1 mild port/ enlarged wategate hole off my GN.

how stock can i keep my truck and run this in the low 12s?

Re: winter projects- turbo

I already have my winter turbo project done. I had my stocker upgraded to a 20g or equivilent by Tim's Turbo in Virginia. I also have all the upgrade goodies for the 12sec recipe. The truck is completely done but I can't take it out yet for a run. We just had a couple inches of snow and I need it to melt and get a good rain before I will take my truck out for a test run with the new turbo. I've had the 12 sec recipe done since last winter but have never taken it to the strip to get some times. This spring I'll take it.

I have never gotten any times since the upgrades, but I think it would do some 12's without the upgraded turbo. I want to keep my truck somewhat stock because it a low mileage 21k truck. I would hope to maybe get some mid to low 12 sec slips after I get it tuned. The tuning is the part that I need to learn. I have learned a lot from this site and hope to apply what I have learned but the part about spark plug gap, fuel pressure and timing, still has me a little confused. I don't quite understand yet. But with the help of this site, I think I will eventually get a great street tune on my truck.
