Window motor going out??

Sometimes my window works flawlessly, then other times when you roll up the window it starts to go up then stops. If I wait a few minutes and try rolling it up again it will inch its way back up. Is the motor on its way out? What do you guys think??

Re: Window motor going out??

Mine does the same thing, I was told that the button wasn't making good connections. So I cleaned it with some electrical cleaner spray stuff and it didn't do anything. I was just planning on replacing the motor, but will follow along and see if it might be something else.

Sorry to say but yep, sounds like it's going out. Fairly common problem.

Yes, motor is bad. Windows have a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Window motor excessive current is tripping the breaker, which auto-resets after a few minutes.

Same thing happened to me. Bought some really good motors from www.zbramotors.com. Get a pair for 50 bucks shipped. Make sure that when you put the window assembly back in, you use short bolts. I used bolts that were too long and wound up bending them when the window went down. The window assembly held but the transmission in the motor broke. I told ZBRA about it and they sent another motor free of charge even though I messed up. Good people.

Yup, we had the same thing on the drivers side, and now the passengers side is getting a little slow. Be sure to follow the safety tip and bolt the arm in place, otherwise you might loose a finger. Not too hard to install.

I can get a GM motor for about $133, or Ive heard some of you guys have done a Napa motor. Any suggestions on the two, will the GM last longer you think?

Re: Window motor going out??

Go aftermarket, our motor was $69 I believe. $133 for a window motor is rape:tdown:
