Will these wheels fit?

Hey guys! I was looking to purchase in the near future some Chrome zo6 replica wheels that are 18 x 9 1/2's up front and 18 x 12's out back! They will be 275/35/18 size tires up front, and 335/30/18 tires out back! I really want them for the looks, and not so much for the preformance aspect of it as I'm sure their quite heavy. I was also a little concerned about the profile difference and if it will hurt the transfercase. I assumed that it would be ok because the zr1's drop from the 275 40's to 315 35's with the size in profile these from 275 35's to 335 30's! Don't know if this size wheels have ever been put on a sy or ty, any input would be greatly apreciated, I also don't know if I would run into any clearance problems with the leaf springs or not either! Thank you in advance!

Re: Will these wheels fit?

Depending on manufacture your 275's are about 25.6" tall and your 335's are about 25.9" tall, IMO you are safe with that amount of distance. Some will say its too much, some will say you can go more, I would run it. As for if they will fit I would need to know the offset and/or the backspace you are thinking of running. Just off the top of my head I would say the rear wont fit without a spacer that would stick them outside of the body. The 11" wide only leave you about a 1/4 of an inch clearance to the frame so all that extra 1" would have to be on the outside of the wheel. HTH

P.S. for your info even though the 275 and 315 combo is a stagard setup those tires are exactly the same highth at 25.6 - 25.7 depending on manufacture.

Ok! I really appreciate your info and knowledge on the subject! You really know your stuff very well! Thanks! I'll get the offset info for the rear tommorow and post it as I get it! I really hope that I can fit them, but you only have about a quarter inch to you frame with just the 11's from the zr1's, would you in your honest opinion run them sticking about 3/4's of an inch to a full inch outside of the wheel well and cladding. Do you think that it would it look ok or kinda dumb and out of place?

I don't think it would look good, thats probably the reason you don't see that combo, at least I never have. You could run a skinnier wheel see if you can get a 10.5" wide. I know someone ran 18" ZO6 wheels but I think they were the 9.5" all the way around, I could be wrong. Someone also just did I believe the 19" and 20" just look in the wheel forums for the details and pics. Trust me I would love to see a 335 on a SyTy, hell a 345 for that matter, but I just don't think it will happen without some drastic measures. We were lucky enough to be able to get a 315, how many other vehicals can do that from the the factory without any mods.

Plus the further you stick that wheel out the more stress and damage you will do to your bearings, probably not a big deal but something to keep in mind.

Re: Will these wheels fit?

Thanks! I messaged him private message, its the only way to message him but I'm not sure if I sent it correctly! I also found a syclone that is running 345/35/18's out back on some wheels that I'm not sure what they even are, absolutely amazing! Its syclone 0737 There is a link to his pictures but no contact info! Does anybody know if he is on our board? Thanks guys!

Re: Will these wheels fit?

Did they have to run a spacer on those setups? The last couple people I talked to said the 12"s had too high on an offset and wont fit without a spacer, the only offset I know of for a 12" is +64mm, thats about 8.5" of backspace. If a 17x11 ZR1 wheel with a +36mm offset has 6" of backspace and only gives a 1/4 to the frame I would have to speculate that the 12"s are being run with a hudge spacer or theres a new offset other than +64.

Re: Will these wheels fit?

The wheel and tire guy was out today! They said he will definately be in for work tommorow! I'll be able to get the offset from him then! Those are some pretty nice looking wheels in my opinion, thank you H-TOWN-TYPHOON , but I'm partial to the zo6's myself.

Re: Will these wheels fit?

yes, his name is john and he is the only guy in the department, he is with Bones Enterprises, very freindly and helpful guy to deal with. Has enyone ever delt with or bought from them? Great prices on all the normal stuff that isn't special order. I beleive right around 1,000 for shipped black zr1's 17 by 9.5 and 17 by 11 combo with tires mounted and balanced with 56 and 50 mm offsets if I'm not mistaken, plus excellent prices on other wheel and tire combos as well. Hey H-TOWN-TYPHOON that is a great looking ty that you have there, those are 18's if I'm not mistaken 9.5 and 275 width up front and a 10.5 with a 315 width out back. I've admired that ty of yours for a few years now it really looks great. I currently have powdercoated silver zo6's on my ty but they are only 17's with 9.5's on all corners and only 275's. I've been wanting to go bigger for quite a while now!

Re: Will these wheels fit?

Ok, I found out the offset for the 18 by 12's and as you had said before all you've ever heard of them being in offset was 64mm, and thats all they can get is a 64mm offset

So I guess you are going to need MONDO-THE-BIG-AZZ-SPACER to get those to fit, I wonder how big you need though.....

Re: Will these wheels fit?

according to the calculator on sytyarchives.com , with 64mm backspacing on a 12" wheel you will be level with the cladding but in by 102mm ~ 4" ... don't think there is that much space in there

Re: Will these wheels fit?

How can it be even with the cladding when a 11" ZR1 is even, where's the other inch go??

In the fenderwell... as I said, I don't think there's 4 additional inches on the inside

Re: Will these wheels fit?

I guess it all comes down to the overall look of the package, I have no problem getting adapters to fit, the front will look great, rear will look massive but stick out around an inch from the cladding, does it look sweet or does it look silly? What do you guys think? Am I barking up the wrong tree. Would you guys just go 10.5's in the back with like 295's or 315's on em. Or put all the marbles on the table and gamble, gamble with the 12's wrapped in 335's out rear? I think it would look sooo sick! Please be completely open with any replies, thanks!

i dont know how accurate the calculator at sytyarchives.com is. it showed my wheels/offset all wacked out, sticking out over an inch in the frt.,but when fitting the wheels on the truck they are damn near a perfect fit. ultimately it was the actual back-space measurment that made me confident they would fit.

i thought it was best to run 4 same size tires/rims due to awd?

My Teal Ty came from Japan and the owner put some white 5 star 17x 8 wheels with adapters to make them fit (guess thats all he could find there). Fronts are ok as they line up with the cladding on the money but the rears stick out about an inch and look like serious ugly shit to me, IMO. I really don't think any tire that stick out past the fender looks cool and I think most would agree that the "clean tucked" look is the way to go.
Just my thoughts, and besides it will throw extra crap, water, mud & ROCKS all over the fenders. Can you say paint chips!
