why resistor on green map wire

hooking up alky i went to tap the green wire at the map and found a resistor taped up in here.
truck had 2 bar map for 12 years before 3 bar chip and now i think this was a trick previous owner did to fool truck into seeing higher boost maybe?
thoughts?
anyone else seen this before?

removing it tomorrow-(could be why we always had a hard time tuning the truck for the last 10 years)

How is it wired? Is the resistor from signal to ground, or signal to 5v?

Some people do that to alter the MAP signal lower or higher.

well there are 3 wires to the map
grey /green/ black
its on the green one where im wiring the alky kit signal to

any reason NOT to take off speak now
