In person, Gary Shanock (GAShan), Chris Pearson, and Doug Christo on Powertour in Cape Canaveral. Ian (SyTyArchives) and I have basically always lived local to each other when we first got our trucks and basically have become family.
Dameon was the first sytyer I met. Back in 2001 shortly after I bought my first Ty, and became a member of the "boards" at the time. He was the closest owner on there. We met to check out each others trucks and wrench a bit..... 11 years, countless trucks and hours of wrenching later.... we are best of friends and partners in Sportmachines.
well no one really turned me on to them i just always liked first gen s series
then at a lil car lot i saw this 2 door blazer thing with a body kit sittin along the side and was lookin at it and then i googled "TYPHOON" cause i had no idea at the time what it meant.
then i called the lot a day or so later and asked what was up with it and he said it was a friend of his and its all history after that now i own 3 syty things lol
timbo.i bought my ty in march 2005 and joined .net..that summer i drove up to grand rapids where tim was living at the time for a cruise.i picked him up and drove the cruise for a couple hours and he showed me a green/grey.i dropped him off.soon after he moved back to alaska.
Jack (Icarus). Pm'd for a while. Driving around, I saw his last name on his mailbox. Hit the brakes, walked up to his garage door and, no shit, "You must be Jim" . He has been amazing me since...Jim
Although I no longer own mine, and it was a few years back, I met a bunch of guys in Michigan at the Woodward Dream Cruise. It was my first time there and had no idea what we were getting into. Rolling down Woodward Avenue with about 10-15 others was awesome. The cops kept us together and let us run red lights, similar to a funeral proccession.
I remember driving back from the car cruise in Ocean City MD probably 1999 or 2000 in my turbo crx. We hit some traffic and the highway was backed way up. I saw an "s10" with huge tires under it so i passed a bunch of cars on the shoulder to get up next to it. Denny (Sycho) was in the passenger seat with I think his Wife driving the truck. We shot the shit a couple minutes as i asked about his truck.
I had just been told by my insurance company that the 93 Corvette I had a loan for and was supposed to pick up for $11,000 was going to cost $6500 a year in insurance so I thought "i bet one of those Syclones would be cheap to insure and could be made pretty quick." Joined the mailing list when i got home. Randy Gilbert (i think his username was Ghostrider) was selling his truck. I had the money so I jumped on it.
After them, I think the next sytyer I met would have been Morgan up at Hooters in 2002.
