Well, the SRT/10 arrives next Thursday. Jimmy and I will videotape two runs in the spirit of complete fairness.....one from a dig and one from a roll. Straight from the Ram SRT/10 home page; "No other truck comes close to this ultimate performance. No one else sports a class-obliterating 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque. And no "toy" truck can even think about topping 150 mph or reaching 60 mph in just over 5 seconds". Since they are dead wrong on the last sentence (our jewels can hit 0-60 in 4.6 - 4.8), I don't know that what else they say is right but once Jimmy and I can coordinate work schedules where we are both off, the camcorder comes out and we will posts results for all to see. In the meantime, who's in front in the end? The SRT/10 is bone stock for now....Jimmy is a little bit modified :).

Re: Who's gonna be the 1/4 mile king?

Marketing people rarely ever know the whole truth behind what they are selling. They know just enough to sell it to the average joe and maybe a little bit more. In the end, they don't know squat except how to sell.

Jimmy's Typhoon should kick the crap out of that big pig of a truck.

A viper powered truck vs a 13 year old SUV? Sounds like a good race. If you have any trouble with him Jimmy send him down here..pickup vs pickup :)

I was going to say, how's this going to be a fair stock for stock race with Jimmy?

I think you should bring out the 200 miled Sy to race him.. :eek:ops, did I say that: :D

that truck(srt) doesnt stand a chance of getting any traction, IMO it's another 454ss just worse bc it has more power. it will tow a trailer pretty good but thats about it.

The SRT-10 does have traction control. I saw one run 8.6 in the 1/8 with traction control on, and it had nothing but smoke with the traction control off. Another variable to throw in the pot.....

Has anyone actually modded one of those and/or put street slicks on it? You'd think with a good driver who can feather a clutch, those things would be in the 12's. What happened to all the marketing hype?

I just ran my truck like 45 minutes ago and got a 1.865 60ft and 13.653 at 97.040.im really happy epecially cause i got to ask a srt10 truck to race and he backed down cause he said " I know what those things are" i thought they were the fast production truck but his fastest was a 14.8 and i also saw him run a 15.30 and he past me and his truck smelt like a big rig after riding the brakes all the way down the grape vine.

Nothing pisses me off more than peoples ignorance. You have no idea how many times I have been told by people that my "turbo charged astro van" will get spanked left and right by an srt-10, and that no other truck in the world has ever compared to it in anyway. I get that both from a guy who I work with, and some punk who sells dodges.

That thought has crossed my mind more than a couple times but I don't want to start a family fued when I cross the mark first (HA). I might tease him with a run against the Sonoma GT and Lord help me IF I beat him in that. I tend to agree with Waller...power and torque are there but if you can't get traction, doesn't matter what your output is. I wonder if M/T produces 22" street slicks?

I periodically read the SRT-10 Forums to see what they are doing. Most them run high's 13 like the Lightnings, a few good drivers have gotten them down to 13.0-13.1, so they do have some potential. I think this is still true, they have such large rear brakes, their isn't drag radial rim diameter size larger enough for a rim to fit the stock brakes. Hennessey was swapping rear ends to get rims small enough to fit drag radials.

makes me think of supra's. can make insane numbers on the dyno. but as some say around here... "whats the difference between a 400hp supra and a 1000hp supra? half a second in the 1/4 mile" ...

He's also got a few more toys that could give a good race.

Suposedly he is selling all/most of his SRT-10's, he had 5 of them at one point and three of them went to Hennessey. He also has Vipers that have gone to Hennessey that he is selling off as well.

Man, it must be nice to have that kind of money to throw out the door and sell for a such a loss...

Jimmy wins hands down.

The SRT10 is a big pig, much less with an inexperienced driver (ie someone not familiar with its launghing techniques)
