Recently purchased a 93 ty.

Getting a white plume of smoke on cold startup. Done a little digging and I am thinking it could be the valve seals. Was hoping to get a second opinion here.
Doesn't smoke while driving, but i can smell oil.

Truck has 79k on the clock.

The smoke should have just a hint of a bluish tint if it is oil and it's a common problem. Not too bad of a fix if you have the right tools ie. spring compressor and an air supply etc. and are reasonably mechanically inclined. You shouldn't smell oil from the valve stem seals while you are driving so you probably have another leak around the valve cover or the back of the intake etc that is landing on something hot. Both issues can come from age and just sitting. Seals and gaskets dry out and don't seal properly anymore. Doing the valve seals means new valve cover gaskets so you may be curing both issues at once.
