Where to get replacement headliner?

I'm trying to get a replacement headliner for the Ty since my little water incident.
There are new ones available for about $160 that use ABS plastic instead of the foam crap that desintegrates. Anyone ever used one of these? I will still need to modify it to use my sunroof. Any recommendation on alternatives? I've got over 16 hours in this thing now pulling out all the interior and fixing crap
BTW, it is weird having no back seats....thought about not putting them back in. Just look roomy:) ....and light.

No one huh?

I found a place in Massachusettes.
Automotive Interiors and Accessories, Inc.
PO Box 1282

I bought a bare ABS headliner and I'll customize it to fit the sunroof arrangement.
Also bought a complete carpet kit from them in Graphite. I'll take some pics. This has turned out to be a pretty sucky job:tdown:

I have cracks in the floor at the joint where the fenderwells meet the floor about 4" long. It's right at the axle line on both sides. I'm gonna have to weld reinforce the joint. I don't know how this could've happened....oh, and I found broken glass everywhere under the carpet...so much for having never been wrecked:rant:

I thought more guys had done restorations on here. Guess not.

only a few have taken out the entire interior and put it all back..

i'm to scared to touch my headliner, with the sunroof i'm worried i'll create more problems than do good.

Re: Where to get replacement headliner?

george i have a guy that does custom headliners / door panels seats... etc etc. you have the headliner board just need someone to to cover it in oem padding/material.....

if that's the case and you are willing to ship it to me i can have it covered for you. he did my liner because it was sagging and it looks better than new. he even put an embossed syclone logo in it for me. cost me out the ass for the embossing but if you just want it replaced with stock color material then it's not that expensive. call me if you have questions or need to talk. chris 1-803-924-7051...

Re: Where to get replacement headliner?

George,

Check with some local interior shops...most will recover your stock backing for minimal cash as long as you take it out. Check with a few of the local street rodder/all show no go types to see who does the best work in your area.

A guy local to me does my head liners for 75 bucks a pop if I take it out and bring it to him. The price is 300+ if he has to remove/install it so that should give you an idea of what youre looking at cost wise. I spent 140 bucks with him last time and that was for a head liner and two sunvisors for the beater truck. Hell, the sunvisors and the head liner are the nicest things on that truck now  .

Re: Where to get replacement headliner?

That was the problem. Original owner told me there was a problem with the initial install and they had to pull it all out and do it again. On the second time you can see where they just chopped the OEM ceiling out and left pieces while dicking everything up in the process. So there is NO backing. They just took the thin cover material, glued it on the edges and pulled it tight. I'm telling you this was a hack job. I'm gonna take the ABS liner I got, fab it so it has a sunroof tray and then cover it myself. I found the material in 60" widths.

Use that contact. You can get the bare ABS shell only or you can get it with the ceiling material already bonded to it. MANY colors available including the stock colors and they will also send samples. All holes are cut. Mine is taking about 3 weeks to get. I ordered carpet as well. I'll put up pics as soon as everything is in.

Re: Where to get replacement headliner?

I'm not saying everyone should take the interior out of the Ty but seat of the pants dyno says that was a significant change. Tail end is hard to keep from going sideways on wet pavement at part throttle. Big fun!!!
Goodies should be here soon. I'll try to take as many pics as I can.
I'm also gonna bond velcro to the area where screws used to run through and hold the interior in that way with just a few screws around the edges. I couldn't believe how many friggen screws were in these things. It's just not necessary. The screw holes in the interior will be filled and everything redyed. Trying to get that new feeling back.

Yes, my wife thought Morgan was a "hottie" We're getting her in for an MRI next week.:)
