what do paint shops use to buff the paint after color sanding????

Rubbing Compound
They come in different cuts -Medium,Fine, etc.
Use a real buffer if you can @ about 1200 rpm
then use a swirl remover, Then regular wax.

last steps we did on mine...

wetsand w/1500 or 2000 with a foam block
use 3m buffing compound with a foam pad, medium cut (Orange color in clear bottle) 2 passes
use 3m buff compound diff foam pad fine (black bottle)
2 passes

use 3m hand glaze to seal the surface
apply by hand with 100% cotton towels (no seams)

Then I hand polished with S100 detail polish.

I have no complaints...
