Re: What would you do?

aren't they paying up front for the vehicle? Just send the title via certified mail to them.

They will either just have to trust you OR you can both find a bank (locally to them) that you trust and you send the bank the title then the bank will send you the money (a little riskier on your part).

If they are paying by check (even certified check or money order) you will want to contact the bank it is written on to confirm that the check is legit before you complete the deal. You don't want to release your truck and title to them, and then have your bank later tell you that the check was a fault or counterfeit, leaving you without your Ty or the money.

I just sold a tractor to Vermont a couple of weeks ago. My bank took almost up to two weeks before it would clear a Trust fund check. Wire transfer or a transaction that CANNOT be canceled is the best way. Bank to bank.

Re: What would you do?

well the guys backed out of the deal. They didnt trust the bank to give them the title or the bank to give me the money once the title got there.............guess they were trying to pull a fast one on me...................by the way they said they were from WV, just incase anyone else gets a call...........

Re: What would you do?

very shady, i would only put the money in escrow. then you can see the money is there. when they get the title they "release" the money.

i think thats the safest way.

but glad you didn't trust them. this post would have a much worse ending.

Re: What would you do?

When I sold my Ty it went out of state,PA to FL.The buyer sent me a $2k deposit, then I went to the notary, and had the paper work notarized, and they made me a copy of the title, then I sent this paperwork(except for the original title),and sent them that. Then they sent me the rest of the money. Then when the transporter came to pick up the Ty,I put the title in the Ty.The deal went through perfectly like this.

Re: What would you do?

see i suggested that way too. But they only wanted to give me $500 and then me send the title.........thats the only way they would of done the deal............but umm..........once they get the title that means the truck is theres...........no way im letting it go for $500...........

Re: What would you do?

Thats why I should be the designated "out of state syty" hauler. :)

"F them" would be my attitude. Don't let the truck go on an auto transport until it's paid in full. If they want it bad enough, someone can come get it, look at it, pay for it, then work on shipping later. $500 aint nuthin' son!

If you got a buyer goin west I might be able to help out next week or two. I paid for a Ty in personal check not too long ago and hauled it away...still haven't gotten the lien release yet lol, but me and the buyer have dealt with each other for the past 2 years. Also, he bought it off me before, so anything less than that kind of relationship, pass it like grandma on the interstate in rush hour.

If they ship with someone like FedEx Passport or Reliable, for a few bucks, the driver could hang onto the title and hand it to the buyer at the other end. If it's an open rack carrier forget about it. Chances are, the buyer has more info on you than you do on them.

I'm not sure if I was helpful in this post, just my side of it from someone who hauls cars interstate and internationally for United Van Lines.

Quick hijack- does anyone have any cars going from FL to Cali?

Re: What would you do?

send them the truck. wait for the money.. then send them the title.

if they have your truck. and don't send you the money.. they are then theiving the vehicle.

if you send them the truck then you get your money.. and you don't send them the title.. you are possibly out of your typhoon if they part it out quickly.

send them the truck. get your money send them the title.. all is good

don't know if that helps at all but.. i'd do it that way..
