what was wrong with the old board setup?

I don't like this new setup with all of the different rooms! ::protestno:: it just takes longer, and sometimes I don't want to read about suspension and steering (or whatever that room is called) but someone might have just chosen the wrong room. Maybe I just beleive in "don't fix whats not broken" although I do beleive in improvements, I just don't see this as an improvement.

just a little venting

Click on "View posts since last visit" at the upper right of the main forum page. It'll list all the threads with new replies since you last visited and you can just read the ones you're interested in. That way you don't have to spend a lot of time going through each room.

What he said...

I can't browse the board any other way....even when it was in the old style.

This layout is much better IMO. The old style was just not broken down enough. We will have better discussions in the new board because of the addition of specific forums, and the threads won't get passed up as much.

In addition, people can concentrate on more of their specific interest rather than just a broad range of topics.

You can use the view latest button, and see what stuff is being posted in general, that saves a ton of time.

You can also see that other BB's are broken down in a similar way...

I had posted earlier about not liking the new board - requesting a "New Topics" button - then I figured I'd check again to see if it was incorporated. And look - there it is.

Thanks for the "View Topics Since Last Visit" button

the new setup (minus the language filter) is way gooder. please dont go back to the old setup. we have plenty of people here for the breakdown we are using now.

Take a look at any of the technical car related BBs out there and you will see more technical areas relating to different aspects of the vehicle.

Our old format was ALL jumbled together.
I know this because there were tech posts in the lounge, tuning posts in the how to repair, garbage posted in the tech areas.
There was no specific area for topics to be discussed in detail.
It took around 100 man hours and many dedicated mods to filter through those forums and manually move topics into related areas.

Some folks may not have been posting valuable info because it was unclear exactly what area to post in.

I admit we have made more new forums than I cared for, but I think all the mods involved took opinions into account and we all made group decisions for the better of the BB.

By all means if you do not want to read about suspension and steering stay out of that forum. THATS WHY WE SEPARATED THEM.
If a user posted in the wrong tech area a mod will step in and move that topic to the correct forum.

Hopefully you learn to love the new place, cuz it sure as hell isn't going back
