What the F* is my tranny doing?

Having some trouble with the trans. its actually more of an inconvience at this point. when at 30-45mph the trans cant decided if it wants to be in 3rd or 4th. now usually i have it in drive, not overdrive unless im on the highway, but it still goes into overdrive when in drive :x and it goes back and fourth once every second or so.

im hoping its related to my shifter cable. when my propshaft went bad it *started* to beat up the underside of the truck. well it managed to clip the shifter cable and the bracket that holds it in place. now i havent been able to properly adjust it, so the gear selection is slightly off. im unable to keep it in 1st, as all the way back on the shifter is just barely selected 2nd. and its linearly (new word?) like that throughout the gears.

is it just that the cable needs to be adjusted? i checked fluid level and color and it seemed at proper level and bright red... should i do a trans flush just in case? if so what fluid is best to use on a 92K mile truck?

thanks for any help.

Are you positive its actually shifting into OD and not your torque converter locking up and unlocking all the time? when the TC locks, it sure feels like another gear shifting.

Could be something relating to the torque converter circuitry that commands it to lockup/unlock. if things near the trans got jacked up when your prop went, maybe it whacked one of the wires or messed up the connector that is on your trans right near the shift arm.

just a thought.

30-45 is the exact area where the stock trans will shift from 3-4. so Leave it in 3rd for a longer time. otherwise you are going to have it cycleing between the 2. you also will have converter lock depending on TPS and load so you could and prob have both things going on and it's all normal.

i defineatly dosent feel normal. %90 of the time i have it in D, the other %10 is when im on the highway and its in OD. but its like its trying to go into OD when its still in D, realizes its not supposed to, goes back to D and back and fourth.

ive data mastered it and my tps is usually arround %10-15 when its doing it. im kinda new to data master though, is there a reading that shows converter lock up so if nothing else i can rule that out?
