Re: 4l60e?

Does it have a tv cable hole on the driver side, or electrical connector on pass side?

Re: 4l60e?

Straight from Wikipedia, you have a Electronic trans...

The THM700 was renamed "4L60" (RPO MD8) following the new General Motors naming convention, when the electronic version, 4L60-E (RPO M30), was phased in. This happened in 1993 for trucks, vans, and SUVs, and 1994 for rear wheel drive passenger cars. In 1996, a bolt-on bell housing was phased in (along with a six-bolt tailhousing) for S-10 Trucks and S-10 Blazers and beginning in 1998 for all other applications.

What is it going to take to make it work? More than it's worth or what you probably spent on the trans.. Case, pump, valve body, clutch packs, Electronic controller, just to name a few.

The first half is correct, the second, not so much.

The internals are the same apart from the valve body and a few other small differences.

The control is your challenge. You can get an electronic controller from TCI or PCS for $500-$850 including the harness or you can follow one of the builds on here and get a used GM ECM to control your 60e for a lot less. Read up in the 4L80E forum on controllers.

Another option would be to put a vacuum conversion on it to bypass the electronics in the VB and make it like a 4L60 (no E).

How much are you prepared to spend to make it work?

Thanks Dave, I meant that but have never looked in to it. Didn't know if it worked in boost. Guess not! Unless Bubba (East Coast Clown in DC) has a Bubba way!

I think that all in all, the VB vacuum mod is unnecessary and probably as much, if not more hassle, than the PCS unit or the TCI. If you HAD to put the 60e in and wanted to save money, the GM cheap option ($75 for an ECM + $100 for wires and misc) has been proven so I wouldn't personally entertain a vacuum modulator option.
