Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

got mine back from the detailer today. put off picking it up for 3 days cause of rain! of coarse..f'n raining when i HAD to pick it up.
was bummed, dident want to undo all he just did,soo he suggested using a leaf blower to dry it of instead of a shammy.
the people on my street musta thought i was f'n nuts, leaf blowing my truck in what was a light drizzle by the time i got home. was waiting for the paddy wagon rip down the driveway n the guys in white suits to throw the straight jacket on me!
my girl just looked out the window n shook her head...
detailer found imprints in the paint on the roof of maple leafs! tried to rub them out,but my stock paint is gettin thin. soo the roof of my truck looks like one of my kids projects from kindergarden..
other than that, running great! after a few tweeks, ready to swap the plates n drive the wheels off.

Sounds good Tim, glad things are going well. Who did you have detail it?

Hope to see it around sometime soon.

i talked to the guy here in town once or twice, but felt it better to stay with a guy that knows the truck, and knows what a prick i am when it comes to my stuff.
trucks gonna need a paint job in the next few years. thats a whole nuther can o worms.

Body is prepped, new cowl hood is fitted. Only thing left is finishing smooth panel to cover over tailgate. Paint should be applied first part of the week! Wheels come back from powdercoat Friday nite. Then onto painting cladding and reassembly!

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Installed new turbo coolant lines from RPM, had to reverse the flow from stock since the fittings are kind of funky. Installed the A/C delete (directions were MIA so I had to think it out). Installed my custom crossover delete (piece of leafblower piping :rotf: ). Tested it all out, only to find out the hard way I didnt have the upper IC boot tightened down enough. Nice WOT run, then POP! falls on its face. Easy and cost-free fix thankfully. Then I looked down to see the back of the water pump leaking..... Crap!!

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Got my wheels back from the re-finisher. Wheels look great. Center caps, not so much. They're going to make good and do the centers again, properly this time.

I've used them several times for some customers wheels and they've always done a nice job. Which is why I'm surprised that they did such a poor job on the center caps. I'll wait and see what the caps look like when they've had a second chance at them.

Packed it
checked tyres
retightened the wheel nuts
checked oilk

drove it 220km!!! All going well....a little too well....

2km from the port I stopped at a light. When the light went green, the car wouldn't move. It felt like the brakes had seized so I put the hazards on and had a look.

One wheel was turning so I dragged the other off the road to take a closer look. I jacked it up, took the wheel off and found:

(pic to follow when I upload it)

The pass side C5 caliper had lost one bolt completely and the other was barely in. If that had gone, would I have lost the wheel?

As it was, the caliper was wedged against the brake disc and the wheel was seized. I was able to loosen it but I am worried that the caliper is bent irreparably. Not a cheap fix.

Thankfully a guy stopped and he took me to a garage where MIRACULOUSLY the guy had the right size and length of bolt for the spindle to the caliper (sadly the wrong grade so I have to repace it :( ). I borrowed some wrenches and went back to the truck.

I was amazed to find that the reason he stopped was because he recognised the clasic nature of the car and knew all about it - cool Dutch guy or what!

The recovery vehicle arrived just as I was fitting the calipers/discs back on the car. He lent me a spanner and waited to see if the fix worked.

I drove the 2km to the shippers and dropped the tools off with the guy.

FInally, I parked it and registered it with Dutch customs.

My Typhoon is getting on a boat on 20 May and is being shipped to the USA :D

So, in summary -

I shipped my truck to the USA!!! :)
