what build do you want to see?

As I understand it, it's been ongoing since this post. There just hasn't been much spare time to go into it.

I would like to see a reliable low 11 or high 10 sec truck that doesnt cost 15k to build. use whatever you want as long as its off the shelf stuff.

Hey Mike, What about doing a 2 part build using off the shelf stuff with the following goals.

1.For those of us who still have to pass emission testing, show how much power can be made while still passing emission testing.

2. What he said (KGB Pilot125) or faster if it can be done reliably.

Both Engines can be built using the same bottom end and heads. With changes to the springs and valves.

well i have several pre-built engine combos to choose from, a built 700r4, a built 4l80e couple of different intake options, etc it's just a matter of finding time to put it together..

Re: what build do you want to see?

hey mike... how bout taking a stock block, stock crank with good rods and pistons and buildin a vortec head stock intake motor that can go a fast as possible for guys that want to go fast but can't afford the big buck parts. i still think it's possible to go pretty darn fast on a well built stockish motor if you use the right parts and tune it right. the 350 is viable. the 400 still has to have the small shaft to the front so a good 350 will work. use the high gears so it will make some mph. just a good solid build that will offer some type of dependability and still run as fast as possible. i'd like to see you use the stock exhaust manifolds cause all the headers are a pain to change plugs on. just stay away from the exotic parts that eat up budgets.

I agree with the rest of your post, but I have KB headers, and the plugs are a snap. Easier than the stock exhaust manifolds FWIW.

Coming from someone who is still very new to the game, it would be exteremly beneficial to see some side-by-side comparisons of possible builds, what they cost, power potential and difficulty of build.

How about a blue collar street built truck that can handle like a sports car?

Stock block, L35 heads, stock ecm, stock appearance.
Go all out on the suspension. Coilvers, big sway bars, Maybe design some bolt on or weld in cross bracing. Some folks have been discussing an IRS. It's been done on a 1st gen Blazer so I'm sure it's possible on a SyTy.
I know no one is offering it off the shelf.
Could open up a whole new market of already existing suspension upgrades.

And then bring it to KC for some auto x action.

I second that

Re: what build do you want to see?

Well i say do a stock block .030 over with SRP pistons
Totla Seal rings
Eagle rods
Nitraded stock crank or just a stock crank
zero deck height
vortecs with 2.055/1.60 valves
422 comp cam
1.6 rockers
fully ported on the intake and exhasut side
fully ported upper and lower intake
BBK 58mm TB
TDO6H 14cm2 20G turbo
3 in downpipe
RPM A2A IC
tuned for max power and boost on pump gas
and then a sec chip for max power and boost on say 100 or 104 octane
and no alky or meth injection.

That build with the right tuning should put a Sy well into the 11's maybe even high 10's and a Ty at super low 12's and even high 11's i think.

Atleast thats the recipe for my Ty and i want high 11's and it will be a daily driver.

Vortec heads with a 20G is like pouring a 55 gallon drum through a funnel. I'd run a big turbo through small heads before I'd run a small turbo through big heads.

Then for the build i want to do what would be the perfect turbo to use?? I was told a 20G would get the job done but im all ears if there is a better route??
I'd holler at E-Rue or Nolan to see what turbo they would recommend with your build. The 20g is just barely over stock size.

FWIW I'm running a pt54 on stock heads, and drive it daily.

Re: what build do you want to see?

Bone stock, maybe just some safety/insurance mods (fp/egr/IC pump/etc.)

Absolute Sy/Ty diet. But retaining the stockish functionality (DD). What could a truck do if it weighed 1k+ less? :D

CF everywhere, alum., fiberglass.

I thought I would see if there has been any progress?

I think I would like to see a very "efficient" truck kinda like what I am doing. Looks nice, runs great all the time, gets 25mpg and runs 13.0's Very pleasurable to drive

Its been 2 years since the original post. There are some pretty good examples of builds out there now, to follow. Id still like to see something like dig's truck, where you open the hood and it looks stock. Yet, see if you could get it low 11's or better?
