i went to the track today to get some base line runs before i do my "survival" upgrades,

after 2 passes of 14.32@ 97.12 & 14.54@97.00(timetrials) i was in the first round of eliminations with a 14.3 dial in and the truck went 14.02@90.1, the mph is because i hit the brake trying not break-out on my dial in but it didnt work, it probably would have been a 13 sec. pass if i would have stayed in it, but o well, im happy!

on the 14.3 pass the 60' was 2.31, on the 14.5 pass the 60' was 2.29 both had the 97 mph trap speed, on the 14.02 the 60' was 2.073 with 90.5 trap.

i think all of the 60's sucked !

teh 2.3 60's were not with a boosted launch!

how do you get 6-8 lbs of boost at launch my truck starts to move by hte brakes at about 1-2 lbs

you obviously need to do some work to your brakes. When mine were stock I could hold up to about 10 lbs before I had creep. Do a search and you should find several things people have done to improve holding power. 10 lb launches are gooder

While holding the brake rev the engine in Neutral and the brake will go down more and then you can get badass launches.

apparently he's sitting at home reading this and slapping his forhead right now.

At the track I will slide my seat forward a few inches so I can really jam down hard on the brakes. Then slowly apply the throttle to build the boost. That's all I need to do to build 6-8 psi and get mid 1.7 60foot times.
After that I creep through the lights.

To build more boost you can pull up to the line, put it in neutral and give the engine two good revs while pushing hard down on the brake pedal. The brake pedal will go farther towards the floor. Place it in Drive and start building boost. I can build 15 psi with this method. Which is useless to me, because anything over 8 psi and I spin the tires. Also, it takes a LONG time to build boost this way, which is obviously bad for reaction times.

Good luck at your next track trip. :)

hey, i just tried that brake method real quick out front and got 6-7 lbs of boost.

after experimenting a bit im sure i can get some more boost out of it

thanks for the tips

How bad is this for the tranny/TC?

Well, it's not good for it. Take some precautions and its not that bad either. It builds a lot of heat really quick. I have the a 35,000 GVW transmission cooler. Also, I get the trans cool before each run by dousing the cooler with water. Doing both will greater reduce the stress of building boost for the launch.
