I'm going to need some input from some of you that have had your trucks in for body work.
I want to make sure the bodyshop monkeys don't F it up more than it is & that they do the job right.
I can already see them in my head using sheetmetal screws to secure the cladding.:squint:

do it yourself.the only way to make sure.the monkeys at one of state farms ""pro""shops broke a peice of cladding on mine.
needless to say they never touched the truck again.
took it home and slowly started doin the work myself.

NOS brand new from Ray for probably $800
But hey,try to find another virgin one for cheaper.
Not gonna happen.

This is the next piece I'm making a mold for is the rear corners. There seems to be a huge demand for them.

Yep those corners are impossible to find.

Dameon has a NOS set also and i think he was firm at $750.00 each.

Dang I think id rather not have them than buy that. It would make more sense to part out a nice truck and keep that piece... cause at least then you make a profit.

in some cases these trucks are worth more in parts then whole.

$4700 is the initial estimate. The shop said it would be totaled.
Then I told him how much I paid for it. He was shocked & asked how come so much. Then I school'd him.
After he ran the vin & saw what the value was he understood it wasn't an ordinary Jimmy.

there is a Guy in Holland Michigan that has brand new NOS rear Quater for sale - would you like me to try to track him down and see if he still has them ?

Do you mean the corner piece Marty?
Or are you talking about the rear quater panel?

He said that it is most likely that the rear quarter panel will have to be replaced. They will do a pull on it to see what happens, but he said most likely they will not be able to restore the body line, so they'll wind up replacing the qtr panel.

They are really busy & so I won't be able to take it in for another week.:(
I don't like looking at it sitting in my driveway in this condition.

Heck, if I had the money I'd just buy your's, fix it, then let you drive it occasionally.....for a small fee.

Re: Well....FAWK! It finally happened!

Dropped the Ty off @ the body shop on Wednesday. They did a more detailed inspection & found more damage once they removed the inner plastic panels.

Today they called me to let me know that after they did their Kelley Blue Book valuation ($17k & change) , the cost of the repair would not exceed the 70% make or break point to total it out.

The body shop also provides online pic's of the repair as it progresses.
I'll post a link when they have pic's up.

Good luck with the repair 4C! What a bummer when something like that happens. I had someone back into the right rear quarter of my 340 Duster many years ago and I agonized over it not being as good as new any more. Luckily, I had a great body shop and it turned out straighter and nicer than when it came off the factory floor - not hard to do with early '70's Dusters! ;)
Let us know how the work progresses - know you'll be missing the boost!
