I shipped mine a while back when I sold it. It was just under 75 lbs for the back seat, bolts, box & packaging.

I say if you want to take it out, take it out. Let all the haters kiss your ass, It bolts in and out so its not like you couldn't put it back in in the future.

wow that much, I had mine out a few months ago and it didnt really feel that heavy.

I remember it because the first time I weighed it, it came in at 76 something, and FED EX ground won't take anything over 75 lbs now.

Mines out. I can weigh it. With the seat and the steel spring loaded plate, I bet its over 75 pounds.

I dont think a rear seat removal would loko that bad if you finished it up real nice, maybe get the rest carpeted and fill in any holes you might have

Re: weight reduction thoughts

So no other ideas? I am going to be working on the truck tonight and was hoping for other ideas of what to remove.

As far as the rear seat that will be taken out on track days but overall it will remain.

Think about the doors? Whats the guts of a door look like? Wonder what I could remove from the inside and still allow it to operate correct with power windows?

I tossed around the idea of fiberglass fenders yesterday, I mean for $150 each and they only weigh 8lbs its an interesting idea but a fellow owner was worried about them "waving" and rattling with the lumpy idle of my truck. Also, how would you mount the cladding?

So let's hear more ideas, I need some work to do while the other guys work on the wiring!

Thanks again.

PS: Right now I do have a stock sumped gas tank, really don't want a fuel cell but that is always a possibility.

Re: weight reduction thoughts

theres lots of stuff you can remove, pull the crash bars from the door, remove the interior, and trim out all the bracing, or just make the braces smaller, how far are you willing to go? you could halways have the exhaust made from aluminum pipe, remove the heater box behind the dash, wiring for all of the extra crap in the truck, like domw lamps, rear wiper,

Yeah I think I am going to look into the insides of the doors tonight.

I am not sure on the bracing part, seems almost like too much work for the actual worth.

Everything else was/is already covered though.

Good ideas though and thanks!

Re: weight reduction thoughts

crash bars are probably close to 30lbs each but dont get broadsided , How much comfort are you willing to give up?

The truck will hardly be driven on the street when not being raced. So thats why I am not worried about crash bars. I have the PEP core support so im already screwed from the front, might as well add the side to that list.

I am on the fence with the comfort thing. I mean i refuse to get rid of the power leather full interior. I just think its sexy and even more so when you make the power I make ya know?

But I am still thinking about the carpet aspect. But that is something I think i might regret once I feel the rattle and hear the cacklin inside the truck.

I guess my main quest is the "invisible" weight reduction? There is already nothing under the hood or behind the dash.

Re: weight reduction thoughts

More questions:

1. Where can I get fiberglass inner fenders? going to make stock ones work

2. Should I just make a lighter weight set? Cut up stock will be lighter and fit

3. If so, what material/thickness? using stock inner fenders

4. should/do i need inner fenders to begin with? truck will not see rain or snow again I've concluded i do not NEED them, but WANT them

5. The borgeson steering shaft... is it worth it strictly from a weight issue? Handling aside, just weight + cost $225 from waller I believe nevermind found out stock is lightest and i know it works and fits already

6. I read about Hood's 13 gal fuel tank for a syclone, well what about with a typhoon? Will that work? If so, what part #?

Well seems that I answered my own questions from talking to people off the board. Anyone have insight on #6?

I too was wondering about the fenders, inner and out, and how much can be saved by going to a fiber glass cowl hood?
