weight reduction thoughts

Has anyone ever thought about or has taken out the whole back seat? It feels really heavy when i put it down. Honestly i only need a passenger seat for my girl, and the whole back area lol. I dont know how much this would help to make my poor ty faster. What if i took bolth out. Someone please enlighten me. Thanks :tup:

I dont think it really weighs that much to see any noticeable improvement, but every little bit helps.

When you install the AFPR each truck is diff as far as the pressure setting, My truck likes 45lbs. Do you have a gage to set your pressure with?

Do the basic stuff 1st listed in the 2nd link under the heading of.

What do you need to go faster? What should you spend your money on?

Lose the spare tire and jack too. Replace with a bottle of fix-a-flat. ABS and A/C delete.

I'd leave the seat unless you are serious into racing. It would be a substantial weight savings I would think. However I laugh at street cars that have all the seats missing and the interior gutted.

IMHO there are better ways to reduce weight without the gutted look.

This is an estimate since I haven't weighed it yet but I figure I got my truck down to 3200-3300 with me in it and I still have 100% full interior power seats, doors, windows.

But let's hear some other weight loss options who has done what and to what gain, or in this case, loss.

I hate seeing gutted cars, on the steet.

This may be harsh, but yeah. Sounds like you trying to Fck up a good thing. Worry about weight when your going a little faster.

Heres what I removed to save weight, it was good for a few hundred pounds or so.

Just kidding, but really the back seat makes it look a ton better inside. I bet it would save you a decent amount of weight, but I wouldnt mess with it unless you are at a track day or have a money race. Remove ABS, A/C if you dont need it, get lighter brakes(aluminum rear drums), etc.

Anyone have any ideas on what you can remove INSIDE the truck with still keeping a stock looking apperance? Toss some ideas out there, I think I have covered most already but woudl love to get the truck down to 3000-3100.

Sound deadener, speakers, rear seat belts, driver weight :lol:

Dont know how big you are but im 115-120lbs, my vehicles go fast(especially the bikes) :rotf:

I shipped mine a while back when I sold it. It was just under 75 lbs for the back seat, bolts, box & packaging.

I say if you want to take it out, take it out. Let all the haters kiss your ass, It bolts in and out so its not like you couldn't put it back in in the future.

I haven't weight that since I was in the service, 30+ years ago.:rotf: :rotf:

If you are serious about this then look this over. There was a company that made all the windows that our truck uses but I can't find it right now.
