I am wondering how common this is?? I've got a 2700 stall Yank "PY3400E" converter.

Listen to the shifts, you can hear they are quick, and you can hear the 1-2 bark the tires on the outside video.

I've only rode in 2 or 3 high stall SyTys, if anyone else gets a 1-2 bark, can you post up and let me know what type of converter (and stall) you've got? Thanks,

My stock 700r4 & converter chirps the 1-2 most of the time.

how hard is it to change the stall? I have ordered one from John Waller for the summer - 2800.

I have a 2800 stall and it won't bark on 1-2 shift like my stock converter did. However, my 2800 will bark during take off without a boost launch and my stocker never did this...
I heard the higher the stall the more it obsorbs the 1-2-3 shifts... Is this true?

What converter specifically, do you have?

From what I've seen, it's absolutely true... because the higher the stall, the sloppier the converter. Converters are a big tradeoff and with a high enough stall, you're "trading off" a lot of top end performance and efficiency for that mega launching power. If your truck can bark the tires from a dead stop without a boost launch, that converter must be really loose and hit really hard or something; my truck couldn't dream of doing that. You don't happen to have a 400cid V8 under the hood do you?? :D

My stocker has chirped 2nd but not lately. Either to many runs down the 1/4 or the TV cable may need another click or two. I think It's shifting good on the street and on the strip so I've left it as is.

It's just a six

My trans & converter are all stock.
Shifts firm ,,,but no bark in any gear. :-(
Maybe because my OG dried out tires do not bark?

Running a big stall converter can actually soften the blow between gears and protect some of the hard parts, but, it will cook the crap out of your tranny unless you run an aux. tranny cooler (or two) :) .

is there a "how to" on changing a stall converter? Mine is due in about 4 weeks!! How long should I expect to have it out of action?

How long does it take you to pull the trans and put it back in? That's how long it takes.

However, if you don't get the converter seated completely, you will do some serious damage to both the converter and trans. I think George Blake has a How-to in his forum on here.
