VERY close to pulling the trigger on buying a Typhoon and have questions....

I'm one word away (Yes) from acquiring a VERY clean 1993 Typhoon with 118,000 miles on it.

Basically, the main stuff looks good: Upgraded rebuilt trans about 20,000 miles ago. Rebuilt transfer case at the same time, new front suspension, intercooler pump works, EVERYTHING works including the ABS. I asked about the timing chain, which has been replaced but the owner is not sure when.

Are there any other questions I need to ask? The seller has been FANTASTIC in describing the truck and the few minor issues it has, and he's been patient with my questions. I just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything!

Find out who built the trans and research them. I wouldn't let it scare me (personally) off of a good buy, but if it's a local "performance" tranny shop, odds are it'll pop on you in due time. Not trying to be a downer....just being realistic. Lots of local shops think they can build an AWD 700R4 to handle 400+ lb-ft because their buddy's 305 powered 3rd Gen is holding up fine with their build. Different animals altogether.

Also, lots of Cali trucks have Kenne Bell gear, so ask if it has a chip. If so, find out which one. Kenne Bell chips can be dangerous......like engine rebuild dangerous.

I'll be sure to ask about the trans and the chip!

So I guess your done looking at my dad's ty. Would have been nice to shoot him an email and let him know. In my opinion it's bad business. You just missed out on a sweet, clean, well cared for Ty for your high mile needs paint GN.

Just sent you a PM to clarify what is happening. I don't want to get off to a bad start on this board.
