Vehicle Transport Options

Thought I would start a thread as it comes up often of people we can go to with good references to transport vehicles.

Some may have figured out I bought another typhoon recently, but need to get it shipped to me. Did some looking around and open trailers from Seattle to Louisville have been ~$1100 range.

Tyguyjeff on here has moved a lot of syty's for people, Seattle isn't a stop he makes often though.

Being I was not in a hurry I went to uship to just see what happened, I came out with these guys.

Thank you

So far they have been great to work with (they have not picked truck up yet). What I did like is they have an enclosed 2 car trailer and dually. They have 100% positive feedback on uship and the price was $900 enclosed.

Now that I have their info it would be cheaper not going through uship. Thought I would pass it along to others that might be interested. I will update with my experience and hopefully others can post transport companies that have served them well.

They were the company that shipped my Ty from Minnesota to Nashville. Wasn't in an enclosed trailer though. Can't recall the price off the top of my head, but I think it was like $650 total.

They were always available when I needed to talk to them and stayed in constant contact with me the entire time they had the truck in their possession, and most importantly, no damage to the truck when it arrived.

We also have a company that we use for our dealership, I believe it's John Glass Express? I will have to check the information tomorrow when I get to work, but they haul a bunch of cars up from Florida to Nashville for us that we get at the auction. Only issue we have ever had out of them was that one time a driver locked the keys in the car.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

Great thread, Jeff.

All, please keep in mind when arranging transport that cheapest is NOT always best. Many times "shippers" are not the true shippers but rather dispatch offices that get $250 (or so) of your money just to throw your move request out in the public. Truckers often scroll through the site and jump on the higher dollar moves. What that means is that your vehicle that was promised to be moved, for say $500, in fact sits on the ground although you already paid the "shipper" because drivers are taking vehicles from the same location that other people paid $750-900 to get shipped. Just try to get the "shipper" to guarantee a pick-up date and listen to their excuses. They cannot guarantee you a date because they are not the trucking company / dispatch office.

Getting direct contact data for reputable shippers is the BEST way to go and you circumvent the middle man who makes a living behind a keyboard doing next to nothing.

Lastly, pay the extra charge to get door to door service (VERY important). Otherwise, your vehicle could be transferred between trailers along the way or the entire trailer could be dropped in a trailer transfer point for another tractor to hook up to. That sometimes incurs weeks and makes your vehicle succeptible to pilfering while on the lot. I always get door to door service and make sure the same driver is involved from start to finish, barring an emergency.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

Just had my new Typhoon delivered from Las Vegas to Kentucky. I used Red Carpet Transport. Ranked #1 over the last 3 years. You get what you pay for when it comes to vehicle shipping. Unless you know someone this is not a place to skimp :2cents: I have some stories from other companies that will make you cringe. GPS tracking along the way. Even followup phone calls after delivery. I will definitely use them again.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

I ended up going with u-ship. Had no action for the first day and a half. Then I got 3 offers with in 15 minutes of each other. I beat one guy down a bit and told him I'll throw in a case of Canuck beer. So I get my 2011 Tacoma on thurs from Wisconsin.Meeting the guy in Grand Forks North Dakota.

yep. That's what's happening. With the Canuck dollar as good as it is and I got a good price for my 07 Tacoma sold to a buddy. Pretty much had to throw in 4k to get a new one.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

Thanks for all the props. The Northwest isn't an area I see more than 1, maybe 2 times a year. I maily run I80 coast to coast and all points south of I80, and all areas north of I80 past Lake Michigan.

I do have a buddy who has moved several high end BMW's for me in Seattle at the moment who may be able to assist you.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

I shipped my truck from VA (5 min from DC) to RPM in Cali for 1050 NON-working. They had to winch it on the truck...it was an open trailer, I asked specifically for the top level so I wouldnt have other cars leaking oil or whatever on mine...the operator had no problem with that. Price break down below.

150- company that "hired" my trucker
900- trucker

Since my truck is now running, it will be cheaper on the return trip--800.00 (im also working directly with the trucker that took my truck to CA to avoid paying the 150 finders fee.) The trucker always answers his phone when I call for an update, answers text messages as well.

From what I understand, Mike lives in MD, drives down the east coast to FL then to CA and back to VA.

I have not seen my truck in a while, but, RPM said there was no damage to the Sy when it arrived to them, I should have it back home in a week or so to post a follow up. If everything works out as planned I will be very happy with my shipper.

Re: Vehicle Transport Options

U-Ship precludes ANY transfer of contact information to make sure they get $150-200 for putting your information on the board (place truck drivers look and pick from for hauls). If you want to save $150-200, call Troy at 1-678-851-0666. He is a major line dispatcher and can check availability, average going rate based on location, etc. and he can also schedule a lift if he has a driver in the area OR scheduled to be in the area.
