Vacuum Leaks

I have a bike tube on the upper cooler checking for any possible vacuum leaks, while adding shop air into system I see the egr diaphragm ballooning and than it leaks down. My question is this normal?

Re: Vacuum Leaks

dont think thats normal. (i could be wrong) but that seems to insist that the egr solenoid is broken (leaking) if the diaphragm is ballooning.. usually that only sees vacuum to actuate.

possible that there is a check valve on that line thats faulty?

Re: Vacuum Leaks

I am trying to locate a popping/knocking noise when you blip the throttle. It almost sound like the noise is echoing through the exhaust cross pipe. Or other idea its bad exhaust valve hanging up or mistaking all this for a lower end noise.

Re: Vacuum Leaks

Ok took the egr valve off and put my block off plate on and went and added air again. The egr valve was still ballooning, so i pinched the vacuum line off and obviously it stopped ballooning. The air does bleed down fast and sounds from intake area. Could that just be a intake valve open and coming back through intake? Next thing i am going to try to borrow smoke machine from work and be sure there is no leaks.

I don't have anything to add. Just curious to know your results. Don't forget to post them when you figure it out.

Re: Vacuum Leaks

Ok finally got a couple minutes today to take a look at the truck. I did locate a leak between the throttle body and upper ic. Tried to tighten down the clamps more and 1 clamp broke. So I am going to order a new silicone coupler and t-bolt clamps and recheck. Does anyone know what size coupler and clamps are needed off hand?
