No problems deleting it.
All it does is store vacuum in reserve so that you can use cruise and AC controls while under boost.
I yanked mine removed the vac line and plugged it at the main harness.
No problems to date except I have more room under my battery tray for an external ATF filter.

Just ditch the AC too, that way you won't have to worry about removing the vac ball

what I did was purchase a vacuum ball off a 1996+ jimmy... really small and it works great!!

I have it mounted to a single bolt, but I plan to properly mount it to the truck since I plan on doing a battery relocation.

My battery is relocated and the factory vacuum ball is wedged into the fender. It stays in place, but looks tacky. So cruise will work fine without it? I still want to be able to use cruise and A/C on the highway. If under boost for a short time will it still work ok?

OK, just how many vac lines can you go taking out with this ball removed? I have the ball and main feed line going to it gone, but there are a few others back there, that also go into the intake. Can I plug all of those as well or no?
Also, what is the big black canister looking thing on the drivers side under the headlight? It has a rather large vac line going to it as well???

The vac ball will T into the main vac harness at the back of the intake.
The other line that goes through the firewall is necessary for your AC controls.
The rest are either your Fuel press regulator or EGR.
The big can under the drivers headlight is the fuel vapor canister.
It takes its vac off the front of the TB and is the only device on the circuit.
Some have removed it with no side effects, but on a street driver I would leave it there for safety's sake.

The vapor canister is a charcoal filter that uses the vacuum to suck the fumes out of the gas tank, filters them and <edit> pulls them into the intake for consumption</edit>.
Without it the vent tube coming from your tank is releasing flammable fumes that could be ignited by any spark under your vehicle. Plugging the vent causes pressure to build up in the tank.

So If you have deleted the AC system but still want heat, could you cap off this vac line without effecting heater controls and function? sorry for the stupid question but I know nothing about the heating and air condition systems..

I believe you would also loose the function of switching from floor to dash vents.
That is the flapper valve that is vacuum controlled and often fails if the vac lines in the dash are damaged. (as are mine, so I have researched this pretty deep)
