I have a ty broken motor and have a 400 small block laying around. How hard is it to stick it in the TY? And will the allwheel drive system work still. Opionion Please!

But can it be done and how hard? The 400 is fixed it's a 406 and ran 12.2 all day long hot or cold. It ran slow to me cause it was in a 72 chevy pick up that weight at 4800 Lbs. So I think if I put it in a lighter car or truck and this time spray the shit out of it. What would it do. This are the choices, I have a 93 TY, and 87 Grand National. Both broken but I want to fly.

It can be done, just like any other V8 S-10 swap. The transmisson will bolt right up and you will still have AWD. If you plan on making big power or torque, a transmission upgrade in the future might be something to think about:2cents:

Not hard at all. NA V8 will be slower than a v6 and get worse gas mileage as a general rule.

Put a 86/87 BUICK 3.8 sfi turbo LC2 in it if you can't find an original 4.3 Syclone engine. There is a few on ebay I believe. Good Luck!

Put that 400 in your grand national i beleive that is lighter then a ty and that would be interesting to see what it would run

TY is not much lighter than the pickup you had - but a lot bigger pain to put the v8 into. You will need special oil pan, headers, radiator (siamese bore 400 will need a lot more cooling than regular v8s). Custom motor mounts, electric cooling fans, then the exhaust - to get the power out of that engine you will need something big, and also spendy.

In a general answer to your question - the v8 will go into your truck - BUT, just fix the v6 - you will be happier in the long run. If you want to put that engine in an s-10, go ahead, but don't wreck a ty doing it...

Sell what's left of the Ty to someone who care's about these trucks and buy a blown up S10 to make V8.

400SB is a great engine when build right. But,the cost of well built 400 you could fix the 4.3.Besides,a Typhoon IS a 4.3L turbocharged AWD SUV,that's what makes it fun....at least for me it is.

The 400 has been rebuilt since a long time now. So that's the only reason why I don't want to start all over on a engine. Trust me I would love to fix the V6 and I know the V6 is more fun especialy when you beat a LS1 and they think you have a small block in there. I know the feeling, I use to have a GN and sold it. Now I have another. That why I wanted some one who to buy it or trade something nice. Or I make it in to a race car.

I'd rather see a V8 go in it than make it a giant boombox on wheels with plexiglass windows anyday.

Personally I find it more fun to tell them they just lost to a V6 and be able to somewhat play it off that its "stock" of just has "bolt-ons" (depending on situation).

If I were gonna do a V8 though I'd sell the 400 and go find a low mileage LS1.
At least keep it high tech, EFI/forced induction, no carbs.
