By adding two injectors and correcting RPM signal .

Has anybody tried it, though about it or know about it ?

from what i understand the ecm will support a v8 no problem. there is a setting in the ecm for number of cylinders. there are some guys that are running forced induction lt1s using the syty ecm. from what i understand its a fairly simple migration/conversion.

i would check out some of those boards as there are people doing exactly what you want there.

spend the money to make a turbo v-8 and cheap out on one of the most important parts....why?

A 7749 ecm can now support 3 bar map, peak and hold injectors, a wideband input, on the fly tuning, and a great datalogging capability.

It will also support a lockup t/c, fan control, LS1 coil over plug ignition.

And you can get the actual ecm from almost any junkyard or brand new for around 100 bux.

Why would someone spend 2500 or so on an aftermarket ecu only to lose much of the driveability aspects of a 7749?

Sounds like a great idea to me

What he said.

Iffn' ya got the know how and the will to do it, there are some good reasons to use it. I thought there was some sort of write up on it at thirdgen.org as well.

the only downside i can see is the limitation of only being able to run 6 low impedance injectors. if it had to run 8 low impedance injectors, i imagine it would over heat, if it worked at all.

on the other hand.... there are those new 58lb high impedance injectors. 8 of those would offer some nice performance. :p

I couldn't find it now, but there were a site out there, which detailed the turbo conversion of a 3rd gen F-body with a 7749...

I don't remmember the details, but it definately can be done...

I'll try to dig it up that site...

Thanks everybody you made my day.

the reson is because i have a wrecked Syclone, sold its turbo to a friend

who blew the engine after over dose of nitross and he offered to sell me

engine and tranny whith everythig (wiring harness, PCM and all accesries)

now i am waiting for him to bring his car (Typhoon) which is running

but smoking (ring or piston) so that i remove my things.

sold him the turbo for $ 120, bought thing mention above for $ 267

incloding the turbo i sold him , the wrecked Syclone was for $1200.

I have an LS1 engine can run it using the 7749... and also using LS1

sensors ( crank and cam) and coils ?

The ls1 uses low res cam and crank where most other GM cars uses high res cam and crank input signals. so I dont belive a 7749 will see the corect input signals.

I've been running my 305 TPI motor with a 749 for about a year and a half with no problems yet. I have it running 8 p&h injectors wired up like the turbo sunbird, so yes it will run 8 injectors. I personally think running a V8 with forced induction and a 749 makes for a clean factory looking installation.
