URGENT! Transfer Case needed!

I have a 93 Ty and the Transfer case recently crapped out on me. The mechanic is quoting $500 for a rebuilt but I wanted to check here first for a possible better deal. Appreciate any assistance...

I also wanted to know if there is a really good Sy/TY mechanic in the NEast (Hudson Valley region - Rockland, Westchester, Orange Co. NY). The guys that I have been taking the TY to are good but I don’t feel any Typhoon love or reverence coming from them. It feels like a meat grinder environment in which normal run of the mill cars just go in and out as quickly as possible. Add to it the times that I have had to go back for something that was already worked on, and, well, you get the picture. Appreciate a point in the right direction...

PS Also desperately need a passenger side exhaust manifold. Let me know. Thanks...

check out sy-1177 under parts for sale he parted out a ty and im pretty sure he still has motor trans and transfercase. i talked to him last week and he still had that. i got a bunch of parts from him and no problems his name is Bryan and was verry reasonable pricing and a cool guy.also has alot of sy/ty noledge too.:tup::tup:

most of the time they only need a chain,sometimes the vc

I have a Ty case. And we do tons of work on Tys and other nice/rare vehicles. I'm a bit far from you, but if you were willing to bring it up, would be happy to help. LMK

The mechanic said that they don't open or work on them. They just send out for a rebuilt and install it (with a 1 year warranty)...

take it to any reputable driveline/ 4wd shop if you don't have the ability to do it yourself, i know the guys around here are great and get it done quick, for a decent price. hope you have one like that in your area

buying one plus shipping is gonna end up in the 500 range i'd bet, even with the guys on here cutting deals for members.

i know i have one i'd sell had lower miles from a bravada, so it wasn't nearly as abused as a syty one could possibly be, but shipping is gonna eat up your costs, plus wait time. not pissin in anyones cherrios, just sayin that a bravada one would more than likely have less strain from a lower hp/tq engine
