This is all that's too the EGR system besides the solenoid itself

and as far as what goes to the solenoid itself.. well I believe there's two screws that hold it to the bracket.. then there's just a connector that plugs into a wiring harness that runs by the solenoid.. I don't think it could be the cause of your "choppy" idle.. you have to remember that these trucks came from the factory with horrible idle but i'd check or replace all the vacuum lines around the intake and map anyways even if you don't happen to find a pin hole in one hose

Re: Upgrades???

if you want to delete the egr there is no need to buy a egr solinoid. it's already been done for you. check for vac leaks by the prev owner who deleted it. they may help explain your bad idle.

I have to pass emissions here if i block off that egr then i wont pass will i??

I don't know MO laws, in general If they do an AWD roller than it may not pass because of an deleted EGR. If its an idle test, it will only fail if they are doing an EGR functionality test (ie manually engage it and see if the idle stumble) or they are visually looking for it.

Re: Upgrades???

NOx measurement is not part of a 2-speed idle test, a functional test is then required

NOx is only measured with a load, therefore unless you go to a smog station with an AWD dyno(which i doubt), you will need it to pass a visual and functional test

well, they do have an all wheel drive dyno there. just ask loeryder. i live just across the river and only do an idle test here thankfully.

Re: Upgrades???

They won't run my ty on the dyno here since there is no place to ty it down. Just an idle test here for me on the ty (WI). All they did was look to see if it was there though. If you keep the valve there, connect a dummy hose, and try to see if it will pass the underhood, you may get by. Most emission stations don't know about exactly what needs to be there. My friends ty was actually driven off a 2wd dyno at emissions here.

As in they strapped it to a 2WD dyno and tried to test it?!?!?

Re: Upgrades???

some test stations here have no idea what types of emissions devices we are supposed to have, i had to bring mine to a test only station and had to help the tech with the test, i need to renew my license:banghead:

Re: Upgrades???

well the solenoid comes in 2marrow at 7am at advanced auto and it put it on and hook up the lines and hope for the best.

another question though i was wondering if the vacuum line for my egr solenoid would cause my boost to be weird and my truck sputter and cut out when i try to stomp it over 60mph?? and its sluggishafter 40mph punches??

If there isnt a vacuum leak it wont. Make sure the line that is supposed to go into the solenoid isnt just open and is plugged until you hook it up to the solenoid.
Is your truck overboosting? Do some searching and youll get some ideas on what could cause that if thats your problem. I'd help more than just saying "search" but Im tired and have to go to work in the morning.

They ran it on the 2wd dyno (no straps) and of course it jumped off as soon as they started. If it woul dhave happened to me, I would have killed someone. ALWAYS tell them it is an AWD vehicle...
