Re: Under the hood insulation?
Hmm..in my opinion, nothing looks better than a clean and new insulation under the hood. You'll prb find that it's easier to order that and replace than to clean, paint, and polish the metal to look good. Also, it WILL discolor your hood over time if you leave it off. Just like the others said, that heat will bake your paint and just cause too many prbs which won't be noticable until it's too late.
When I restored my Fairlane, we didn't add insulation until maybe 15 years later. During that time we watched the paint on the hood slowly discolor. It still shines up nice and is show quality, but when you are looking that close at a car, you notice the subtle changes in things like that in the paint.
