I've heard a lot of guys say that. Here's what will happen. They will drive it and say, "I don't know what your talking about." You'll get pissed, they'll send you on your way. You'll come back even madder. They'll pull out your stock tranny and pull a working unit off a shelf somewhere and you'll lose your stock unit. As far as demanding stuff. They aren't gonna give you the time of day if you start demanding stuff. Not a good thing to tell a trans shop that if it ain't right your bringing it right back. Nothing like a good challenge to start off a relationship.
Best of luck and make sure you check for proper TV operation when you get it back.

Can't really think anything since there are no specifics.
Before you get irate with him or anything else, try to see if they will tell you what they are gonna do. If you were REALLY concerened about your trans, you would've done that before hand.
If they put a shift kit in it(doesn't need it for street use) and they don't upgrade some of the hard parts in it, it will actually make the trans MORE prone to break. Especially the sun gear shell.
Ask them exactly what they put it in.
See if they will give you a list of part numbers (they've gotta order them and will have them) and who's shift kit they put in it.
A "shift kit" is a generic term. We can make syty's shift harder with a couple springs, blocked accumulator, a piston, an 1/8" rod to block one of the valves in the valvebody, a TV boost valve and a reverse boost valve. Cost about $25 for all the stuff.
I can see you researched this
Guys will ask 1000 questions on a boost controller but go get the cheapest trans they can.....and then gripe when it breaks
Off my soapbox now.
I suggest to guys that they get the number off the edge of the trans on the passenger side along the pan sealing surface of the tranny and write that number down. Then check it when you get your ride back. That way you know right off the bat if its gonna shift like an ice cream truck or not.

Odds are he will mess with the valve body thinking he is upgrading it while really he is downgrading it.

Good luck. Heard some real horror stories from owners who used trans shops that weren't up to speed on syty's. Warranty or not.

You don't need a shift kit with the "beefed up" parts.
The blues have a higher coefficient of friction than the stockers. They are plates. They will "grab" better under the same conditions as the stockers were exposed to. The 9 clutch stack is an Alto setup. Works fine in a stock setup. The steels are VERY thing and tend not to disappate heat very well. Sounds like he'll buy a blister pack with the blues in it, take the 3-4 clutches and steels out of it, and put the Alto pack into the 3-4. The alto 9 clutch is available boxed up all by itself. I would've stuck with the blues and thick steels in the 3-4. By alternating in a few of the thin steels in the 3-4 you can get 7 clutches of the blues in the 3-4 and this was recommended by Raybestos.
If you drum isn't messed up he can use a wide band from alto(Not kevlar) or if it's worn a little, he can use a power band(stock width) from Raybestos.

My crystal ball is showing in 6 months you will still be fighting tranny problems, be pissed at the truck, and want to sell it due to a tranny that doesn't work right, and the multiple visits you have made to have it REDONE.

Although my crystal ball batteries are not duracell, it does work for me most of the time.

the most important thing of this board is that the members will exchange experiences, so we won't make the same mistake as another board member made................

i'am glad that in a few months i will have a GOODER tranny..

Sorry for hearing it though......... but when it comes to SyTy's you are better off listning to the people that are giving you a wise advice.....

you should ask your money back..... atleast some of it, and step out of his shop.... grap the phone and call somebody from this board who is willing to help rebuild your tranny..

Your original tranny is gone. What they've most likely done is had a ready unit and swapped them out. That's why your 1-2 shift sucked. What were you doing when you lost 3-4? Hmmm. If you were worried about your dad selling your truck...might be worse if it keeps breaking. If I were you, I wouldn't beat on it anymore. email me the pics and I'll tell you if they came from a 700 or not. Guy here at work got stuck in Tennessee and they showed him a table full of parts they replaced. His wife took a pic for her scrapbook of the vacation.....parts on the table were from a Ford AOD.
Your place may not have done this but it has happened.
Good luck.
