While we're on the topic of people not knowing what the SY/TY's are anymore...I called an Auto Zone a couple days ago (only because they were the last option) and the genius I talked to had NO IDEA what I was talking about. And all I did was ask if they had spark plug wires for a '91 Sy. I told him that it was a V6, and he stood me down that the Sy's were the trucks that had the 454 in em. He finally grasped the fact that mine had a V6...but then he went on to tell me that my truck was a '92, not a '91. That's when I just agreed with him and hung up. Some people! Haha

I had two of the same cars, at the same time... TWICE. I owned 5 cars. One '96 Grand Am with air ride. Two '92 Grand Prix coupes (both with the "Aero Package" aka B4U option...similar to the Turbo Grand Prix bodystyle) AND two Grand Am GT coupes, BOTH with the High Output Quad 4 engines. (white '94 and teal '92). My friends though I was crazy too. It's like- I had my "DAILY" driver Grand Prix.. my old "H.O." Grand Am- for OWNING Jap cars, my other Grand Prix...just for cruising..? and my MINT (seriously gotta be the LAST one) '94 GA GT coupe... lol
Airride fanatic, yeah I really have two Typhoons.My friends would think I'm crazy if they didn't understand how much I'm a fanatic and that I've owned an additional 18 S-series trucks.
Out of respect, I won't name drop but there are quite a few members on here that have a much bigger Sy/Ty count in their collection than I do. Which I think is really cool.

Get used to it, its part of the game. You'll hear people tell you that its a GN engine in there, a Vette engine, that they were manuals (but yours was converted to an automatic), that the Typhoons only came in black, etc etc. I had the same thing (to a lesser degree) with my SHO when I had it.

"Is that a real Typhoon?" LOL :rotf: I've owned my Ty for less than a year and I've already heard that. I came out of a store and had someone looking at my truck and they asked me that question. They asked if I put on the body kit myself (sure, it may not be as flush with the body as it originally was) and I had to tell them NO. Hmm, do you really know what a Typhoon is? (That guy claimed to drive a 9-sec 300zx... Suuure)
I do love when someone that does know what a Sy/Ty is says something about it. I live down the street from an area that has an annual classic car show (In fact, the show cars HAVE to drive in front of my house to go to the show). It was nice to see people in classic muscle cars (67 Camaro, etc.) give a doubletake to the Ty, eventhough she wasn't looking her best. Anyways, the day of the show I went to go see a movie. When I pulled up to a light about a block away from the show I heard a guy in a Dodge Ram right next to me say into his cell, "You won't believe what just pulled up right next to me..."
Kinda gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside to own a Sy/Ty, huh?

When I first took off my exhaust, we hit up a local car show at the Wing House. As Im idling in, I see a guy lean over to another and tell him.... that thing has got a 350 in it...listen to it!
I think its best when you have someone stand there and tell you (insert your fav remark here) about your OWN truck that is sitting right in front of you. Gee, thanks for updating me on letting me know that I have a 3.8 GN motor in my own truck, I was clueless.... I keep wondering why the F my motor says 4.3 TURBO on the intake manifold....they musta screwed up at GM. :roll:

I think the neatest time in my truck was right after I blew up my first engine racing a saleen mustang on the highway.(and pulling on him while eating a burger) I was limping my TY to the nearest u-haul place to rent a trailer in sacramento, CA, an NSX pulls up beside me and gives me a big thumbs up:tup::tup::tup:. I was on top of the world with only 5 cylinders and six pounds max boost. SY0237, haha my lady just passed by my computer and said "wow two hot dogs on a hill in the moonlight."

I was going through the gate at work a few weeks ago when the guard commented on my body kit.:roll:
I'm not sure, but it seems about even. Some people know it for what it is, and about an even amount ask who made the body kit for my Blazer.:tdown:

The only comment i seem to ever get is "nice low rider, where did you get that body kit?" I get tired of explaining that that sy's were only available in the U.S., only sold one year, only in black...etc. i just thank them for the compliment and then boost away...LOL.:tup:

Last summer I'm in a car show, and just as the show is winding down I'm idling down the street waiting for people, cars, etc and some guy yells out 'Nice S-10' in a mocking voice. I said out the window that it's not an s-10. For some reason the guy just really pissed me off, I wish he'd said something during the show I could have enlightened him.

I got the windows tinted yesterday on the 92 and a guy in the shop said in front of the workers that he has the same truck but the pickup version called the "extreme". To my surprise the rest of the guys busted out laughing at their co-worker! LOL!! They schooled him good but they questioned the color though.
