The wiring harness that runs from the computer to the engine in my high mileage Ty has become chafed and some of the insulation worn through and shorting. My mechanic says that I need a new one, as this one is too brittle from heat and age to repair. Is this harness a specific application for the Ty alone, or is it a more generic piece common to Jimmys? Is it available from GM or elsewhere? Thanks for any help and have a safe, happy new year!

U might check Jon Spina @ Caspers. He has harnesses for GN's/TTA's.
...thanks for the suggestions. My mechanic is worried that in pulling enough free to work on it, he will damage it further, perhaps beyond repair. And access is not the best, so I think he just wants a backup plan. I have an email off to Caspers and Im waiting to hear back. Does anyone know positively that the harness is SY/Ty specific?

The harness is without-a-doubt SyTy specific (injector harness, boost control solenoid, etc....). Check with Ray Moore for a new one. He had a few back in the day (I bought a couple), and he might still have on lying around. His info is on Sportmachines, and I believe he posts here every now and then.

Thanks for the help, guys, it was good to know there were alternatives if things didnt go well. My mechanic accessed the harness through a hole in the wheelwell and was able to replace the two wires that were damaged without tampering with the rest of the harness. Great to have it on the road again, as they are predicting snow this weekend.
