Typhoon will not read codes - Please Help!!

I did a search for the problem, but could not find what I was looking for.

The problem I have is the engine intermittently shuts off while driving and when I try to start it back up, sometimes it will start, sometimes it won't. If I spray some starting fluid into the throttle body, it start back up right away and stays running. It also only develops about 8-10 psi of boost. I checked the boost soliniod and it's working. I have also repaced the fuel filter and cap and rotor.

The computer was showing a code 34, so I replaced the map sensor as well. I went for a drive after reseting the ECM and the engine died again when it came back to idle, so I check to see if it will give me a code and I got no check engine light flashing at all, not even the default code 12.

After spraying some starting fluid and driving it back home, I checked for a code again and this time it flashed a code 12. I seems to me that when the ECM is able to read codes the truck drives fine, but when I can't read codes, the engine will shut off and not start.

Anybody heard of this problem before?

Any ideas?

Thank in advance for any help.

Mike

Sounds to me like an intermittnet wiring / connector problem but could be many other things well. If won't read codes at the time of the no start, that is because the E.C.M. is "disconnected / not reading". Do the wiggle test, check all your connections etc. and just track it down. If it's an overheat / bad E.C.M., replacemet / substitution the only way to diagnose the problem.
